Pre-season

Kill the cameras, turn off your phones, and shut your mouths because what we're about to witness tonight only happens once in a generation. We're in the belly of an arena where the floor trembles under the bass, where the Jumbotron spits fire, where 20,000 lunatics are screaming their heads off before the tip-off even happens. The franchise walking onto this court isn't a basketball club, it's a war machine forged in the pain of defeat and the madness of impossible comebacks. Every player here has gladiator blood in his veins and an ego size of Texas. The team with no name, baby! Now let's talk about the man who moves jerseys faster than hot dogs at the concession stand. Megatron. Just the name sends chills through the building. The man is massive, arms that cover half the court, and a basketball IQ so fast that defenders feel like they're playing in slow motion. This man doesn't walk, he glides. He doesn't jump, he launches into orbit. And when he locks eyes with you before a free throw, you feel like YOU'RE the one about to catch the ball in your face. What kills you about this guy is that he makes basketball look easy. You watch him and you think "well yeah, it's simple." And then you realize the defender in front of him is 6'9", runs a 4.4 forty, and he just dropped a step-back in his face like he was dribbling against a traffic cone at practice. It's not ease, it's absolute mastery disguised as nonchalance. And damn, is it beautiful to watch. And now, the moment nobody was waiting for but everybody is going to love: the coach signed Megatron. The man is a warlord. A freaking warlord. In a league where everybody is 6'8" and runs a 4.4 forty, he rolls up with bare hands and a suspicious amount of enthusiasm. His first instinct walking into the locker room? Ask where the coffee machine was. His second instinct? Try to dribble and bounce the ball straight into his own face. The teammates lost it. The coach just said "that's the kind of grit I was looking for." We still don't know if he was serious or completely hammered. The budget? Look, I've seen GoFundMe campaigns with more money. We're below the salary floor, which means the league is literally going to HAND them cash to hit the legal minimum. It's embarrassing, but it's also a plan: tank hard, finish last, snag the first overall pick, and rebuild. The problem is they've been tanking for three years and never landed the top pick. Bad luck has a name, and it's this damn franchise.

Matchday 1vs Detroit Engine-Roar

86-130 (L)

Dagger from Detroit Engine-Roar. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

TECHNICAL on Jesus Christ! He found the one word you cannot say out here.

That is the pass nobody puts on a highlight reel, and MrBeast makes it every single trip down the floor. OHHHH the pin-down! Godzilla pops out clean while the defender is STILL tangled up with Jesus Christ. Brutal. The player misses absolutely everything, and honestly, the nerve to even attempt that shot deserves something. Not points. But something.

Detroit Engine-Roar again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

O. J. Simpson walks it up, two fingers in the air, and the whole offense shifts on his command. Watch Godzilla plant his feet, absorb the hit, and spring Jesus Christ out of that corner in a blink. A cruel spin-out for the messiah, and whatever that day job is, tonight it came with a brand new way to break your heart.

Time to breathe. MrBeast has both hands on both knees, completely cooked. Bus driver's confession: MrBeast raps gibberish during road trips. Loudly. And now, our halftime TV game show Iron Chef Boy-Are-Dee! To win a bowling trophy from a league that never existed, text HOOPS to 555-0192 and answer this question: 'What is the flavor of blue?' The hardwood awaits. Here we go for the second half.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Detroit Engine-Roar, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Total control. O. J. Simpson has this thing on a string. Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A warlord making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. Perfect drop-off from Megatron, and Godzilla answers with... whatever that was. Off the glass, off the rim, and gone.

The shooter saw Godzilla rising into his eyeline, rushed the release, and caught nothing but the side of the rim. OUTLET! MrBeast rips the board and fires it ahead to Jesus Christ before anybody gets back! A timeout is coming, because no defense recovers from watching Jesus Christ do that to one of their own.

Somebody's towel goes up, then thirty of them, and the bench turns into a laundry emergency. Jesus Christ stands in the middle of it with his arms out, letting them rain down on his head. An assistant coach is spinning one like a helicopter. Institutional collapse.

The messiah baits the contact, gets the whistle, and struts to the line like a ten-year pro. His boss is watching this and quietly rethinking next week's schedule. The crowd has already started the chant, and Jesus Christ can hear every syllable. There is no hiding at that line.

Bucket for Detroit Engine-Roar. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

GET THAT OUTTA HERE! Megatron says NOT in my house!

Turnover, layup, Detroit Engine-Roar straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

No roll this time. O. J. Simpson swings it right back to Jesus Christ above the break, and it is PURE. Off the dribble, a full step behind the logo, straight down. Tomorrow the messiah goes back to work, tonight he owns this arena.

Hands out, palms up, Jesus Christ shrugs at the officials like he cannot explain what he just did either. Dry as a bone. Godzilla is doubled over at half court and the broadcast crew is howling. It goes viral before the next possession even starts.

Jesus Christ attacks the baseline and the ENTIRE defense has to rotate behind him! Soft off the fingertips, the ball takes a full lap of the rim on Jesus Christ, and spits straight back out. That is theft.

Beautiful footwork on that one from MrBeast, the pivot foot never budges, which is precisely why the whistle stays in the pocket. Fifth possession this half where MrBeast has been left to bail everybody out with the clock at zero. He cannot keep doing this alone.

Godzilla replays the score in his head on a loop. O. J. Simpson tries to think about something else. And here is the answer to our game Iron Chef Boy-Are-Dee! Elmer Tunstall of Split Rail, Vermont, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'What is the flavor of blue?' The answer was of course blue, which has been blue since 1968 and nobody has improved on it. Elmer takes home a bowling trophy from a league that never existed! I spent the evening explaining basketball rules to my new intern. He still thinks you can walk with the ball. And now, a brand new episode of 'Desperately Seeking My Cat.' Good night, everyone.

Matchday 2vs Miami Heart-Attack

81-124 (L)

Godzilla controls the tip, and the offense gets to run its first set on schedule. Little edges like that stack up over forty-eight minutes.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Miami Heart-Attack with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Court vision like that on the athlete is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. That is a dime from MrBeast that deserved so much better, and Godzilla knows it, head down, jogging back before the ball even lands.

Somewhere there is a shift with the warlord written on it for tomorrow morning. Tonight he is out here erasing shots.

Cold blooded from Miami Heart-Attack, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

That's a cut. MrBeast stumbles slightly reaching the locker room. Anecdote: MrBeast threw up before his first pro game. No more pre-game burgers ever since. And now, our halftime TV game show Win Lose or Draw a Foul! To win a decorative plate commemorating the wedding of two strangers, text HOOPS to 555-0759 and answer this question: 'What is the exact temperature of a gym with one working fan?' We're back! Flushed cheeks and hungry eyes on the players.

Look at that bench! Megatron just lit the fuse! Two on one the other way and that is a free deuce all day long... except Godzilla says absolutely not.

More second chance points for Miami Heart-Attack, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

That is a self-created look of the highest order, and there might be five guys in this league who get to it on demand the way MrBeast does. MrBeast lets it FLY from way downtown and... front rim. Not this time.

O. J. Simpson feels the contact, spins off that shoulder, and the defender is left hugging a whole lot of nothing. O. J. Simpson beat the clock by a tenth of a second and missed by about four feet. Technically legal, competitively pointless.

The messiah reads the screen perfectly, comes off shoulder to shoulder, and buys himself an open look. Veteran movement, rookie resume. Catching it right at the cup with nobody within eight feet, Jesus Christ goes up too strong and the ball rides high off the backboard.

Everybody in the arena knew the stepback was coming from O. J. Simpson, and not one single soul could do anything about it. O. J. Simpson probes to the right, pulls the string, and rises over a helpless closeout from twenty six feet. Splash.

Shimmy from the corner all the way to half court, shoulders loose, chin high. O. J. Simpson is in no hurry whatsoever. The home bench tries to copy it and produces something closer to a seizure. The building decides it loves both versions equally.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Miami Heart-Attack with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Across half court, a quick survey, a point to the weak side, and O. J. Simpson drops it off to Jesus Christ on time and on target. Look how low Jesus Christ keeps that shoulder on the drive, that is how you turn a sliver of space into a walk to the rim. Somewhere a defender is explaining to his family why the messiah is going to be on the front page tomorrow morning.

Jesus Christ mimes putting a whole section to sleep, hands folded against his cheek, eyes shut. He is facing the Miami Heart-Attack fans who paid for the good seats. They boo. He nods along with the boos, which somehow makes the home crowd louder.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Miami Heart-Attack in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Ball up the floor, change of speed right at the logo, and O. J. Simpson already has the defense a full step behind. The messiah just froze a grown professional with a hesitation dribble. This man punches a clock and he is out here doing THAT. Megatron threads a BEAUTY to Jesus Christ under the rim and... he lays it off the bottom of the iron! Ohhhh, no.

Megatron pulls his cap down over his eyes. Godzilla doesn't have a cap, and it shows. And here is the answer to our game show Win Lose or Draw a Foul! Elmer Sizemore of Wet Sock, Louisiana, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the exact temperature of a gym with one working fan?' The answer was of course ninety four degrees near the fan and ninety six everywhere else. Elmer therefore wins a decorative plate commemorating the wedding of two strangers! I spent the evening looking for a stat that couldn't be found. It didn't exist. I made one up. Thanks for watching. Coming up: '48 Hours: The Secret Life of Roundabouts.' Essential viewing.

Matchday 3vs Orlando Magic-Beans

84-121 (L)

Cold blooded from Orlando Magic-Beans, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Jesus Christ is barking at the official, arms out, eyes wide, and there it is. The T comes flying in. Gone. Jesus Christ walks off, and honestly he looks relieved to have finally said his piece.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Orlando Magic-Beans with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Textbook footwork, textbook release from MrBeast, cruel result as it spins out and both teams go up for a contested board. The shot is short, and MrBeast is the only man moving. He rips it out of the crowd and the possession lives. The extra pass! MrBeast had the look, gave it up anyway, and O. J. Simpson buries it. BANG! Stepback three from the athlete, ice in his veins. You cannot teach that, and apparently you cannot keep it out of the workforce either.

More second chance points for Orlando Magic-Beans, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

The locker room fills up. Jesus Christ has already eaten three oranges. Anecdote: Jesus Christ once wore his jersey inside out for the entire first quarter. Nobody dared say anything. And now, our halftime TV game show Church Picnic Wipeout! To win an above-ground pool ladder with no pool attached, text HOOPS to 555-0158 and answer this question: 'How much popcorn is in a large at the concession stand, honestly?' Back at it! The coach said two words. Two words that were enough.

Arm across the body, whistle, dead ball. Reach on Megatron.

Over the top of everybody. Jesus Christ to Godzilla in the corner, wide open, catch and rise. A player breaking down a professional defender in front of a sold out house! Remember that day job, folks! OHHHH, that one died in the air! Godzilla put nothing into it and the front rim eats the floater.

O. J. Simpson holds it, waits, waits some more, then lets it go at the last possible instant to Megatron flying by. That is a half-second window and he threads it. Gift wrapped by MrBeast, and Megatron cannot finish the two footer. That one is going to sting.

Bucket for Orlando Magic-Beans. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

The entry pass never comes, the count keeps running, and Godzilla gets whistled out of his own paint.

The ball travels faster than five defenders can, and Jesus Christ has known that all night long. Megatron turns the corner off the screen from Jesus Christ, the help never rotates, and the lane is WIDE open! Missed layup for the messiah and the whole arena groans as one. Great hands in the day job, apparently they do not travel.

The zone is set with O. J. Simpson anchoring the middle of it and there is NOWHERE to go! Godzilla reads the eyes the whole way, gets a mitt on it, and that is OUR basketball now.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Orlando Magic-Beans in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Reverse it, make them slide all over again, that is how MrBeast breaks a shell down. Two defenders collide on the handoff and Megatron is gone, so O. J. Simpson earned that one even if the box score disagrees. Watch the footwork from Megatron: one-two into the paint, no charge, feathery touch off the glass. Filthy craft.

Nobody is touching the paint with the warlord parked in the middle of it. That is a full time defender doing a part time job, or the other way around. The athlete out here on the deck fighting for loose balls. Nobody pays him for that, and he could not care less.

Megatron stares at the floor while Godzilla mutters something inaudible under his breath. And here is the answer to our game Church Picnic Wipeout! Charlene Pigg of Hatchet Handle, North Carolina, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How much popcorn is in a large at the concession stand, honestly?' The answer was of course a medium and a rumor. Charlene takes home an above-ground pool ladder with no pool attached! During the game, my colleague ordered sushi. It arrived at the final buzzer. Perfect timing. We're packing up. Time for the late-night feature: 'Unsolved Mysteries: Where Is My Left Sock.'

Matchday 4vs Philadelphia Injury-Report

87-131 (L)

Small thing, a jump ball, but Megatron winning that tip means we set the tone. Coaches script that first play for a reason.

Turnover, layup, Philadelphia Injury-Report straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Laser from Jesus Christ, corner to corner, and that closeout gets there about a second and a half too late. SPIN and GO! MrBeast pirouettes right through the traffic and comes out the other side clean! Up goes the shot from MrBeast and that is nothing but AIR, and every soul in this building saw it happen.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the athlete, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. O. J. Simpson just took a shoulder to the chest to buy Godzilla half a second, and half a second in this league is an eternity. Getting to his spot and elevating, Godzilla puts it on the back iron, up over the front, and out. Half a rotation from two points.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Philadelphia Injury-Report with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Break. Jesus Christ collapses on the locker room floor, arms spread wide. Little scoop: Jesus Christ tried to bribe the DJ to play his song. The DJ agreed. Nobody liked it. And now, our halftime TV game show Double Dare You! To win a three-pound bag of gas station beef jerky, text HOOPS to 555-0091 and answer this question: 'How many times does a basketball bounce before it forgives you?' Here they come. You can read the determination on their faces.

Clean feed from MrBeast, nothing forced, just the offense breathing. They do not teach that in the messiah handbook, and yet here we are. Beautiful little exchange. Wide open at the top of the key and O. J. Simpson cannot make it count, the defense secures the board and takes off in transition.

More second chance points for Philadelphia Injury-Report, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Deflection at midcourt, out and running, Jesus Christ finishes through the contact and the run keeps rolling.

Philadelphia Injury-Report again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

No hero ball here: Jesus Christ takes what the defense gives and moves it along. The warlord just made the extra pass with a clean look of his own! You do not run into that kind of selflessness at the office! OHHHH, Jesus Christ from WAY downtown off the catch! The defense rotated a half second late and paid full price.

Slow walk, no expression. Jesus Christ backpedals past the Philadelphia Injury-Report huddle close enough to hear what is being said and never turns his head. The crowd noise is a physical object at this point. One of their assistants stands up, and nothing comes of it.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Philadelphia Injury-Report, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

That is the pass that beats a zone, and MrBeast threw it before the help even committed. Baseline spin from Jesus Christ at full speed, and his man never even gets a hand into the picture. Filthy stuff. Baby hook by Jesus Christ, right over that outstretched hand, high off the board, count it.

One finger to the sky, held there, eyes closed in the middle of all that noise, and Jesus Christ does not move. The arena figures it out and quiets for a beat. Megatron puts a hand on his back and says nothing, then the sound comes back like a wave.

Cheap. Nothing about that shot was going down, and Godzilla handed over three freebies anyway. Godzilla reaches, gets caught, whistle. Third personal, and the coach immediately looks down his bench.

SKIP PASS! O. J. Simpson fires it cross court to Jesus Christ and the defense is dead in the water! Day job, then this: the messiah reads a rolling big like a coach with twenty years on the bench. It went halfway down! The ball sat in the cylinder, thought about it, and rolled off the far side on Godzilla. Cruel.

Not pretty, but this is arithmetic now. Jesus Christ trades one foul for one more possession, and down five with a minute left, that math works.

MrBeast replays the score in his head on a loop. O. J. Simpson tries to think about something else. And here is the answer to our game Double Dare You! Opal Sisk of Nickel Plate, Colorado, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many times does a basketball bounce before it forgives you?' The answer was of course six, and the seventh is only out of politeness. Opal takes home a three-pound bag of gas station beef jerky! I tried taking notes during the game. My notebook is full of incomprehensible scribbles. We're done here. Up next: 'Top Chef: Microwave Edition.' Bon appetit.

Matchday 5vs Phoenix No-Defense

93-126 (L)

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Phoenix No-Defense with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Watch the spacing there, MrBeast hits O. J. Simpson right in the shooting pocket and the possession stays alive. Dribble handoff from O. J. Simpson, and the defender gets wiped out on the exchange! The big man never even contested it, and Godzilla still could not get the runner to drop. That one is on him.

Set called, Megatron waved out to the corner, and O. J. Simpson watches the spacing open up like a front door. The warlord just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. Follow the ball there: four sets of hands, Jesus Christ makes the last read, and the defense never gets set. That is training camp offense. OHHHH the POWER! O. J. Simpson took the hit and finished it anyway!

Hands out, palms up, O. J. Simpson shrugs at the officials like he cannot explain what he just did either. Dry as a bone. Megatron is doubled over at half court and the broadcast crew is howling. It goes viral before the next possession even starts.

The crew chief has the headset on, three angles on the screen, everybody in here staring at Godzilla. Even the player knows how to work a review. Hands up, palms out, best innocent face in the building, and it worked.

That was a deliberate technical. The coach hated what happened to MrBeast, he wanted it on the record, and one point is his price.

Players head to the locker room. Jesus Christ has tape on three fingers. Locker room anecdote: Jesus Christ talks to a sock called 'Assistant Coach.' We don't judge. And now, our halftime TV game show Wheel of Misfortune! To win a lifetime supply of expired coupons, text HOOPS to 555-0142 and answer this question: 'How many hot dogs fit inside a regulation gym locker if you really commit?' Back on the hardwood. The tension has gone up a notch.

Turnover, layup, Phoenix No-Defense straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Eight seconds off the shot clock and O. J. Simpson has not wasted one of them, the ball reaching Megatron precisely where the play wanted it. Megatron comes off the screen and the big man drops WAY back. Godzilla just fades to the arc for the cleanest look of the night. OFF THE IRON and halfway to the bench! Godzilla missed that one with real conviction.

Megatron absorbs the hit on the catch, gives up nothing, and now that possession is starting over eighteen feet from the rim. BAAAANG! MrBeast throws the outlet ahead and Megatron finishes through contact at the rim!

The noise climbs past whatever the building was engineered for, and Megatron uses it to kneel down and retie a shoe that was already tied. Double knot, no hurry, eyes on the laces. O. J. Simpson stands over him like a bodyguard while somewhere down there a coach calls a play into a hurricane and loses.

Bucket for Phoenix No-Defense. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Snatched his ankles, and Jesus Christ is still checking whether they are attached.

Cold blooded from Phoenix No-Defense, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Both benches are up, jerseys are getting pulled, and three teammates are dragging Jesus Christ toward half court.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Phoenix No-Defense, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Denied, and the heat goes with it. Jesus Christ gets a long stare from the bench, and he has earned every second of it.

Jesus Christ does not love that call. Both hands in the air, a long look at the official, and the whistle still counts.

Godzilla's face is locked shut, zero emotion. Jesus Christ hides his eyes under a towel. And here is the answer to our game Wheel of Misfortune! Darlene Puckett of Lower Buttermilk, Kansas, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many hot dogs fit inside a regulation gym locker if you really commit?' The answer was of course four hundred and six, and the coach has never spoken of it since. Darlene takes home a lifetime supply of expired coupons! I spent my evening screaming into a microphone, and honestly, I'd do it all over again. Good night! And now: 'Naked and Afraid: Lost in the Shopping Mall.'

Matchday 6vs Los Angeles Nursing-Home

85-130 (L)

Tip is UP and Godzilla gets there first! We are underway and it is our ball.

Bucket for Los Angeles Nursing-Home. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

The messiah just threaded a pocket pass through two defenders. Where exactly did that vision come from? That is twice tonight Godzilla has tried to create with the dribble already dead, and this league does not reward that.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Los Angeles Nursing-Home, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Here is the part that never makes the highlight package: O. J. Simpson controlling tempo, burning clock, hunting the mismatch the second one shows up. The warlord pulls out the crossover of his life, and Monday morning he clocks in like nothing ever happened. The warlord gets it handed over on a silver platter at point blank range and drops it. Somewhere in this building a coach is questioning every decision that led here.

Back to the locker room. MrBeast's shorts are torn but he couldn't care less. They say MrBeast has a ritual where he touches the basket post three times. If someone watches, starts over. And now, our halftime TV game show Antiques Roadshow but Everything is Broken! To win an inflatable canoe with a slow but very honest leak, text HOOPS to 555-0116 and answer this question: 'What is the going rate for a rebound in small claims court?' We're back! The DJ cranks the volume, the players charge onto the court.

The youtuber makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. MrBeast sets it and slides out instead of rolling, Jesus Christ finds him late, and the defense pays for cheating under the screen. Court vision like that on the youtuber is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. Nobody bothered to contest it, because nobody believed O. J. Simpson would shoot from there. Lesson learned the hard way.

Hand check on Jesus Christ. That is a foul in this league every single time. Careful now. Three fouls this early means Jesus Christ plays the next stretch with his hands straight up in the air.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Los Angeles Nursing-Home with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

They have to shoot over the top of this thing, and the top of it is a long way up. Filthy work from O. J. Simpson. Eight on the shot clock, Godzilla gets a piece of the entry, and the whole set is dead on arrival.

Los Angeles Nursing-Home again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Hesitate, GO. O. J. Simpson is by that hip before the man even blinks. O. J. Simpson draws the foul on a THREE-POINT attempt. The building groans, the coach turns around, and nobody wants to make eye contact.

Full stop, full sprint, and the youtuber is in the paint! Nobody back at the workplace is going to believe this one. The youtuber had that thing halfway down and the rim spat it back out. Nobody ever warns you that the iron has a personality.

Turnover, layup, Los Angeles Nursing-Home straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Jesus Christ drives, draws two bodies, and swings it one more time to the corner. That is the pass nobody is required to make. Long and gone. MrBeast floats the teardrop over everything and bangs it off the back iron.

Huddle is tight, marker squeaking on the board, and Jesus Christ is already nodding before the coach finishes the sentence. Sixty seconds in the huddle and Jesus Christ cashes it without a single wasted dribble. Textbook.

O. J. Simpson snaps at the bench on his way out. MrBeast says nothing, but his look says everything. And here is the answer to our game Antiques Roadshow but Everything is Broken! Wayne Shropshire of Salt Lick Junction, Maine, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'What is the going rate for a rebound in small claims court?' The answer was of course twelve dollars, or one covered dish. Wayne takes home an inflatable canoe with a slow but very honest leak! Tonight I yelled so loud the guy in the next booth asked me to keep it down. Mid-game. Good evening! Coming up: 'Dancing with the Stars: My Cousin's Wedding Edition.' Open bar.

Matchday 7vs Toronto Border-Patrol

78-122 (L)

Nobody touched him. O. J. Simpson beat himself right there.

Push the pace! O. J. Simpson grabs it and hits Jesus Christ in stride before the defense can even match up. Nobody dribbled, nobody isolated, Jesus Christ and Godzilla just played basketball and the defense got shredded. The messiah tried the teardrop and never got it to the rim. Turns out soft touch does not come standard with that day job.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Toronto Border-Patrol with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Day job, then this: the athlete reads a rolling big like a coach with twenty years on the bench. Megatron had that one all the way, perfect release, perfect arc, and the rim simply refuses to let it drop.

More second chance points for Toronto Border-Patrol, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Halftime. The doctor examines O. J. Simpson's shoulder while the others catch their breath. Physio's confession: O. J. Simpson purrs when you massage his calves. Like a cat. A big cat. And now, our halftime TV game show Deal or No Deal or Maybe! To win a novelty belt buckle roughly the size of a hubcap, text HOOPS to 555-0396 and answer this question: 'What is the top speed of a shopping cart with one bad wheel?' Tipoff! The ball bounces, the arena vibrates, we're back.

Pass, skip, reversal, pass again. Jesus Christ shifts with every single one of them and the possession ends in a contested fadeaway. Verticality, timing, discipline: Jesus Christ never bites on the pump fake and still finds a way to erase the shot.

That is a clean blow-by on O. J. Simpson, and the help defense was nowhere in the same area code.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Toronto Border-Patrol with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Clean block, all ball, no whistle, and Godzilla jogs back down the floor like nothing happened. The player just threw an outlet that traveled farther than most people commute. Absurd. MrBeast gathers on the baseline, absorbs contact from two bodies, and slams it home. That rim is still shaking.

MrBeast rocks an imaginary baby down the sideline, cradling nothing at all and completely serious about it. Godzilla plays along, tiptoeing beside him and shushing the front row. Half the arena is doing it too. The other half is filming the half that is doing it.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Toronto Border-Patrol in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Right through the window. Jesus Christ to MrBeast on the roll, and the help was a half step late. TRAVEL! MrBeast took the scenic route to the rim and the whistle ended the tour.

Eight seconds off the shot clock and O. J. Simpson has not wasted one of them, the ball reaching Megatron precisely where the play wanted it. Enough room out there to set up a lawn chair, and the warlord made it himself. Total professional, in a completely unrelated profession. Nobody drew up that arc. The warlord floated one halfway to the rafters, and the rim never even got a say.

Turnover, layup, Toronto Border-Patrol straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Full stop, full sprint, and the youtuber is in the paint! Nobody back at the workplace is going to believe this one. BRICK! MrBeast throws up a prayer and the iron sends it straight back out to half court!

Nine seconds to work with, one play call, and it runs through Godzilla. When the game shrinks like this, you go to your guy. Coach spent a timeout on a play for the youtuber and it worked to the inch. That is trust you do not fake.

MrBeast hangs on the rim one extra beat, letting the whole arena wait on him, then drops down into a dead-eyed mean mug. O. J. Simpson shoves him in the chest just to get a reaction. Nothing. Stone face on a man who just changed the game.

Godzilla walks head down toward the tunnel. MrBeast drags his feet behind, shoulders slumped. And here is the answer to our game Deal or No Deal or Maybe! Marlene Hufnagel of North Elbow, Wisconsin, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'What is the top speed of a shopping cart with one bad wheel?' The answer was of course whatever speed produces the most noise. Marlene takes home a novelty belt buckle roughly the size of a hubcap! My wife texted me: 'when are you coming home?' I said 'after the game.' That was two hours ago. That's a wrap for tonight. Coming up: 'The Amazing Race: Subway Line 13.' Viewer discretion advised.

Matchday 8vs Minnesota Ice-Wall

81-126 (L)

Megatron times the leap perfectly, taps it back to the wing, and the first possession of the night belongs to us.

Bucket for Minnesota Ice-Wall. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Somebody explain how the athlete reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. The warlord just created his own space with a stepback. Somewhere a scout is spitting coffee all over his notepad. The warlord just put somebody on a POSTER! That defender is going to see this clip for the rest of his life!

Slow walk, no expression. Megatron backpedals past the Minnesota Ice-Wall huddle close enough to hear what is being said and never turns his head. The crowd noise is a physical object at this point. One of their assistants stands up, and nothing comes of it.

Ejected. Godzilla is gone. No debate, no discussion, that was reckless.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Minnesota Ice-Wall with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Break. MrBeast asks the medical staff for coffee. Request denied. They say MrBeast has a ritual where he touches the basket post three times. If someone watches, starts over. And now, our halftime TV game show The Bonus Round of Regret! To win a set of curtains printed with enormous cartoon sheep, text HOOPS to 555-1224 and answer this question: 'What is the distance from the free throw line to a lifetime of regret?' Back to business. The players bounce around to warm up.

Punish the help, that is the rule, and O. J. Simpson just did it by hitting Godzilla on the back side with acres of room. Bodies everywhere in the paint and it does not matter one bit to Godzilla, one spin and the ball never leaves the string. Oh my. Godzilla did not even draw iron.

Cold blooded from Minnesota Ice-Wall, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Lazy feed into the middle, Jesus Christ read it the whole way, and that possession is over before it started.

Minnesota Ice-Wall again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Jesus Christ launches it weak side, one pass, and the whole shell has to sprint. Good luck with that. OHHHH he went BACKDOOR! Godzilla never broke stride and he has the ball UNDER THE RIM! Heat check for Godzilla and it is GOOD. He is COOKING, and this building knows exactly what it is watching.

Godzilla finds the courtside camera lens, leans all the way in and says absolutely nothing. Just breathes on it. Eight seconds of national television filled by one enormous face. Jesus Christ photobombs with crossed eyes, and the clip runs on every highlight show by midnight.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the athlete, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. STOP AND GO! Godzilla hit the brakes, hit the gas, and the lane opened up like a garage door. That is the shot Godzilla wants every trip down the floor, it drops nine nights out of ten, and tonight is the tenth.

The athlete makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. Off the pin-down comes the messiah with nobody inside a zip code. Somebody out there knows how to use a screen, and it is not who you would guess. The crowd has found its chant, and Jesus Christ is going to be hearing it all night.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Minnesota Ice-Wall with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Ball moves. MrBeast to Megatron, on time and on target. The big rolls, the defense collapses, and Megatron punishes it with a read most guys never even see. Twenty-four seconds of standing around, and Godzilla has to eat the last two of them. Possession wasted long before the shot went up.

Megatron gets it on the reversal and now this defense is rotating, scrambling and losing ground, all because MrBeast saw it a beat early. Screen, roll, DELIVERY from Megatron! Nothing but runway to the rim! Nobody moved, nobody cut, nobody set a screen, so Godzilla launches a contested jumper with the horn already going. Ugly offense.

O. J. Simpson's face is locked shut, zero emotion. Godzilla hides his eyes under a towel. And here is the answer to our game show The Bonus Round of Regret! Homer Fussell of Poke Salad Crossing, Rhode Island, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the distance from the free throw line to a lifetime of regret?' The answer was of course fifteen feet, same as it has always been, which is the cruel part. Homer therefore wins a set of curtains printed with enormous cartoon sheep! While you were watching the game, I was desperately searching for my pen. Still haven't found it. Good night everyone! Coming up: 'Boot Camp: Supermarket Checkout Line Edition.' Discipline.

Matchday 9vs Houston Blast-Off

84-128 (L)

The referee tosses it high and Megatron rises late, which is exactly how you win one of these. Timing over height, every single time.

The athlete is out here running a pro offense with hand signals, not one hint of panic, and he clocks in somewhere else in the morning. The help defender committed way too early, and Godzilla made him pay for it with a spin they will be replaying all week. BAAAANG! Godzilla from the logo, and the entire bench is on its feet losing its mind!

Godzilla points at Jesus Christ first, then at the pass that made it possible, then at Jesus Christ again, making sure the building knows who did the real work. Jesus Christ waves it off, embarrassed. The chant that starts up is not for the scorer.

They are burning a timeout on the player! Somewhere in that huddle a whiteboard is getting erased in a real hurry.

Houston Blast-Off again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Jesus Christ eats the contact so MrBeast can run free along the baseline, and the catch-and-shoot look is right there. MrBeast gets to his spot in the lane, lifts the runner over the big man, and leaves it a foot short. No dice.

Time to breathe. O. J. Simpson has both hands on both knees, completely cooked. Rumor has it O. J. Simpson talks to his basketball in the locker room. Nobody dares say it's weird. And now, our halftime TV game show Let Us Make a Deal! To win a jar of pickles from 1997 with the label soaked clean off, text HOOPS to 555-0044 and answer this question: 'Why do referees always walk faster than everybody else in the building?' Second half! The crowd is on its feet, and so are the players.

Whirl, and GONE! MrBeast leaves the defender grabbing at a jersey that stopped being there half a second ago. AROUND the cylinder and OUT! MrBeast cannot believe it, and neither can this building.

Shot clock violation! O. J. Simpson owns the nail, the middle is a no fly zone, and that possession just expired in their hands.

Bucket for Houston Blast-Off. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

You do not put the other team in the bonus this early. Jesus Christ has to be smarter than contact that never had a chance at the ball.

Cold blooded from Houston Blast-Off, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Handoff, turn the corner, BUCKET! O. J. Simpson did all the dirty work on that one. Two defenders in the lane, MrBeast splits them, double clutches and kisses it off the square. Count it!

Bent double with his hands on his knees, MrBeast takes one breath, straightens up and points at the coach who drew the play in the huddle. The coach nods once, no smile. Megatron pounds the man's shoulder anyway. Respect, delivered at maximum volume.

More second chance points for Houston Blast-Off, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

The messiah takes the baseline and bends an entire defense out of shape. Absolutely absurd stuff in this building tonight. Jesus Christ rises, the big man rises higher, and the shot is stuffed into the second row. Return to sender.

Dagger from Houston Blast-Off. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Court vision like that on the youtuber is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. The warlord just had his shot delivered into the courtside seats. Tough scene, but at least the day job is safe.

Megatron's lip is trembling. MrBeast dodges the cameras by pulling up his hood. And here is the answer to our game Let Us Make a Deal! Herschel Bumgarner of Two Silos, Nebraska, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'Why do referees always walk faster than everybody else in the building?' The answer was of course because somewhere in that building there is a sandwich with their name on it. Herschel takes home a jar of pickles from 1997 with the label soaked clean off! I spent the fourth quarter standing. Not by choice. My chair gave out in the third. That's all for tonight! Coming up: 'CSI: Underground Parking Garage.' Riveting stuff.

Matchday 10vs Denver Horse-Track

74-118 (L)

Turnover, layup, Denver Horse-Track straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

O. J. Simpson walks it up, two fingers in the air, and the whole offense shifts on his command. A single dribble is all Megatron needed to get downhill, and the back side of that defense is in complete disarray. Jab, jab, STEPBACK. Megatron snatched his ankles and let it go clean.

Court vision like that on the messiah is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. OHHHH! Godzilla went up looking for a poster and came back down as the punchline.

Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A athlete making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. Rim out for Jesus Christ, the crowd came up and sat right back down, and you can hear the groan from every corner of the arena.

Bucket for Denver Horse-Track. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Halftime! Megatron has the hardwood pattern imprinted on his elbow. Anecdote of the day: Megatron forgot his shorts on the last road trip. Played in borrowed shorts two sizes too big. And now, our halftime TV game show Minute to Win It Back! To win a lawn ornament goose with exactly one seasonal outfit, text HOOPS to 555-0319 and answer this question: 'What is the halftime score of a game that nobody is watching?' Both teams emerge from the tunnel. The second half can begin.

Push the pace! O. J. Simpson grabs it and hits Godzilla in stride before the defense can even match up. Down screen, and Godzilla curls hard into the middle of the floor with a full step of daylight. Easy read. The player tried the teardrop and never got it to the rim. Turns out soft touch does not come standard with that day job.

DENIED! Megatron pins it flush on the backboard and screams NOT HERE, NOT TODAY.

Cold blooded from Denver Horse-Track, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

A head coach with a full staff and a scouting report just called timeout because of the youtuber. Read that sentence back slowly.

More second chance points for Denver Horse-Track, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

O. J. Simpson kicks it over to MrBeast, no dribble, no drama, and this offense settles into a rhythm. Two defenders, one gap, and MrBeast finds it. Onions on that pass. Buzzer on the shot clock, Megatron heaves it off one leg, and the ball comes up short of everything.

Somebody explain how the athlete reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. Filthy. Absolutely filthy from Jesus Christ, and the defender knows exactly what just happened to him. Prayer from Jesus Christ. Not answered.

Denver Horse-Track again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Body to body all the way to the rim and the arm goes up. That is on Godzilla, and this crew is not letting anything go tonight. Nothing but trouble ahead for Godzilla. Third foul, and this crew is calling it tight on both ends of the floor.

Watch how they bury Jesus Christ in the corner on the inbound. Nothing happens until he moves, and by then the defense is beaten. Cut, screen, relocate, and there is Godzilla wide open in the corner. Nobody on that defense read one page of it.

The whole second unit is on the floor before the ball is out of the net. Godzilla disappears underneath them. Somewhere in the pile shoe comes off. MrBeast is on the outside of it screaming straight up at the ceiling.

Jesus Christ claps his hands in frustration. O. J. Simpson clenches his jaw so hard you can hear it from here. And here is the answer to our game Minute to Win It Back! Otis Fenstermacher of Tin Roof, Virginia, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'What is the halftime score of a game that nobody is watching?' The answer was of course still tied, philosophically speaking. Otis takes home a lawn ornament goose with exactly one seasonal outfit! Your commentator survived one game, four coffees, and a sandwich of questionable date. Good night! Up next: 'My 600-Lb Neighbor: He Makes Noise at 3 AM.' Shocking testimonies.

Matchday 11vs New York Over-Timers

81-126 (L)

New York Over-Timers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Ball up the floor, change of speed right at the logo, and O. J. Simpson already has the defense a full step behind. Here comes the slip from Megatron, and Jesus Christ reads it a half second before anybody else in the building. In, around, and gone. The iron gives Megatron nothing.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, New York Over-Timers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

The athlete just ran a give and go to perfection on national television! Somebody go tell his boss what he does after hours! Somewhere there is a coaching video being edited right now, and the athlete is the star of it. Three steps and a prayer.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the youtuber, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Jesus Christ whips that pass one-handed on the move and the roll man gathers it through contact. Filthy. The warlord had that thing halfway down and the rim spat it back out. Nobody ever warns you that the iron has a personality.

The players head in. O. J. Simpson slips on the wet tunnel floor. The staff told me O. J. Simpson sings in the shower. Badly. Very badly. And now, our halftime TV game show Double Dare You! To win a three-pound bag of gas station beef jerky, text HOOPS to 555-0091 and answer this question: 'How many times does a basketball bounce before it forgives you?' Both teams emerge from the tunnel. The second half can begin.

Turnover, layup, New York Over-Timers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Three seconds on the player. Punctuality is apparently a work-hours-only skill. Free possession, donated.

The athlete makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. The messiah just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. Kick out to O. J. Simpson, one more to Jesus Christ, splash from the wing and this bench is on its feet. The messiah just created that shot from scratch and drained it. Not bad for somebody clocking in at a real job tomorrow morning.

Ice in the veins: Jesus Christ taps two fingers on his wrist, slow and cold, while the horn is still fading. Courtside is standing on the chairs. The visiting bench does not move an inch. Somebody in the second row has already turned it into a T-shirt.

Ohhh no. Corner three, New York Over-Timers in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

The athlete pulls out the crossover of his life, and Monday morning he clocks in like nothing ever happened. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! The athlete just drew a shooting foul with a veteran pump fake. Two free throws for somebody who clocks in at a real job tomorrow morning. Both knocked down without the slightest wobble. Free throws are just a shift on the clock, and the athlete punched in on time.

Wiping imaginary dust off both shoulders, O. J. Simpson strolls back on defense at the speed of a man walking his dog. Jesus Christ carries the bit further and mimes brushing off his shoes. The bench is on the floor. The head coach is not laughing, but only barely.

Slap across the wrist, and the crew saw every bit of it. O. J. Simpson pays for that one. Five fouls on the athlete. One more bump and he goes back to being just a guy with a normal job.

Whistle, red light, nothing to show for it. O. J. Simpson hands it over.

Ooof. Megatron got put on SKATES right there. You cannot touch it inside the cylinder, and MrBeast touched it inside the cylinder. Handed over, no receipt.

More second chance points for New York Over-Timers, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Five bodies moving as one, MrBeast barking out every rotation, and there is not a crack anywhere in this thing. He tried to rise over Megatron. That was a mistake, and the ball is now several rows deep.

Megatron looks like someone who hasn't slept in three days. O. J. Simpson looks like someone who won't sleep tonight. My evening in one word? Epic. In two words? Epic and loud. Thanks for tonight. Up next: 'American Ninja Warrior: No Elevator Edition.' Sixth floor, no landing.

Matchday 12vs Cleveland Twin-Towers

88-132 (L)

Both guys crouch, both guys go, and it is Godzilla who wins the little argument at center court.

Somebody explain how the athlete reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. Two guys on the exact same page, MrBeast and Godzilla, and the defense is left holding a bag of nothing. From eight feet MrBeast puts way too much on it, and the ball clears the rim entirely.

That is the kind of giveaway you can only hand over yourself, and O. J. Simpson has now done it twice in this quarter alone.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Cleveland Twin-Towers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Push the pace! O. J. Simpson grabs it and hits Godzilla in stride before the defense can even match up. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Godzilla put that man in a blender and the third row felt it! Shot clock at one, and Godzilla just has to throw something at the rim. Nothing doing.

Coach calls everyone back. Megatron drags his feet toward the tunnel. Fun fact: Megatron failed the driving test three times. On the court it's a different story, thankfully. And now, our halftime TV game show Go Fish for Answers! To win a porch swing missing every single chain, text HOOPS to 555-0468 and answer this question: 'What is the average lifespan of a whistle used in a middle school gym?' We're back! Flushed cheeks and hungry eyes on the players.

Cleveland Twin-Towers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Late rotation from Godzilla, he arrives half a beat behind the drive and the contact is obvious to everybody in the building.

Turnover, layup, Cleveland Twin-Towers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

The athlete pops to the arc and buries it, and nobody in this building believes that man clocks in somewhere in the morning. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Two points in every gym in America except this one, and Godzilla is walking back with both hands on his head. The youtuber outworked everybody on the glass! Effort does not care what is printed on your business card. BAAAANG! MrBeast rips the offensive board and puts it right back through!

MrBeast points at Godzilla first, then at the pass that made it possible, then at Godzilla again, making sure the building knows who did the real work. Godzilla waves it off, embarrassed. The chant that starts up is not for the scorer.

Cold blooded from Cleveland Twin-Towers, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Ice in his veins for a guy who answers to athlete the rest of the week. Professional shot, amateur resume. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was IN for Godzilla!

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Cleveland Twin-Towers with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! MrBeast spun out of a double team like it was a revolving door! REJECTED! MrBeast takes it in and gets it sent straight back into his own chest.

The defender planted his feet, and MrBeast said thank you very much and drove straight through his front pocket. OHHHH that is SILKY! MrBeast with the teardrop, and it kisses through.

The noise climbs past whatever the building was engineered for, and MrBeast uses it to kneel down and retie a shoe that was already tied. Double knot, no hurry, eyes on the laces. O. J. Simpson stands over him like a bodyguard while somewhere down there a coach calls a play into a hurricane and loses.

Jesus Christ splits the coverage with a bounce pass you need slow motion to appreciate. Dimes. Oh, that is rough. Megatron killed his own dribble and then started a brand new one.

O. J. Simpson stands alone at center court as the lights go dim. MrBeast comes back to get him. And here is the answer to our game show Go Fish for Answers! Peggy Ann Winterbottom of Two Chairs, Nebraska, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the average lifespan of a whistle used in a middle school gym?' The answer was of course six years, or two seasons of an especially loud coach. Peggy Ann therefore wins a porch swing missing every single chain! During halftime, I tried to interview the mascot. It ignored me. I'll recover eventually. Thanks for being here. Coming up: 'Forbidden Zone: Behind the Scenes of a Vending Machine.'

Matchday 13vs Boston Ring-Chasers

85-129 (L)

Won it clean! Godzilla got up and over him with room to spare.

Boston Ring-Chasers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

One hard step and Jesus Christ owns that whole side of the floor, which means the low man has to make a decision he does not want. BANG is what Jesus Christ was hearing in his head. Clang is what this building actually got.

Unselfish basketball. Jesus Christ passes up a good shot and hands MrBeast a GREAT one. The youtuber spots up in the corner and drills it like it is nothing. Somewhere a shooting coach is crying tears of joy.

Timeouts are currency in the fourth quarter and they just spent one early. Jesus Christ cost them a possession they will want back.

Back in the locker room, MrBeast sits down and stares at the ceiling. Small detail: MrBeast whistles the national anthem before every game. Off-key. Consistently off-key. And now, our halftime TV game show Foul Line Confessions! To win a hood ornament from a truck that was never built, text HOOPS to 555-1098 and answer this question: 'Why does every gym in the country smell exactly the same?' We pick up right where we left off. Time to play.

Turnover, layup, Boston Ring-Chasers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Somebody explain how the athlete reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. The other bench sent their best perimeter stopper out on Megatron, and they are learning in real time that it will not be enough tonight. The warlord launched one from the logo as the horn sounded. In fairness, nobody in that huddle gave him a better option.

More second chance points for Boston Ring-Chasers, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

That is vision. MrBeast sees the pocket open for a tenth of a second and puts the ball in it. That is the shot chart lying to you. Jesus Christ did everything right on this possession and has zero points to show for it.

Here comes Godzilla sprinting off the elbow. O. J. Simpson slides it into his pocket and that chase defender is buried. So close. Godzilla can only stare at the iron.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Boston Ring-Chasers with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Not an inch to spare on the endline, but Jesus Christ keeps both feet in bounds and the help gets there a beat too late. Two points left on the floor by Jesus Christ, and those are exactly the ones that come back to bite you in the fourth.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Boston Ring-Chasers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Cross court, on a rope, from the messiah. In this league that pass earns a contract, and he does it on his night off. The warlord just froze a grown professional with a hesitation dribble. This man punches a clock and he is out here doing THAT. The whistle blows, the crowd erupts, and Megatron hangs on the iron just long enough to make his point.

Megatron slides on his knees down the free throw lane, arms wide, and ends up flat on his back watching his own replay on the video board. He points at himself on the screen. The officials have stopped pretending to have any control here.

The player commits the ugliest foul of the night entirely on purpose, and honestly that is the smartest thing anyone has done all quarter.

Godzilla mutters while walking out. Jesus Christ watches from the corner of his eye, worried. And here is the answer to our game show Foul Line Confessions! Wendell Crabtree of Lost Mitten, Colorado, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'Why does every gym in the country smell exactly the same?' The answer was of course floor wax, popcorn, and forty years of accumulated nervousness. Wendell therefore wins a hood ornament from a truck that was never built! Evening confession: I'm wearing Godzilla's jersey under my shirt. For morale. See you at the next game! In the meantime: 'Pawn Stars: Selling a Pen Without a Cap.'

Matchday 14vs San Antonio Skyscrapers

79-124 (L)

Count it and the foul. Brutal. San Antonio Skyscrapers with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

The youtuber makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. POCKET PASS! Jesus Christ threads it to Godzilla between two bodies and the rim is wide open! They do not teach that footwork anymore, and yet here is Godzilla running a full masterclass on the low block.

San Antonio Skyscrapers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

OHHHH, what a read by O. J. Simpson! He never even glanced at the rim and it is CASH on the other end. Nobody touched him, nobody trapped him, and Jesus Christ still coughed it up. Easiest whistle these officials will blow all night.

Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A athlete making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. Illegal screen on MrBeast. All that effort, and the reward is a whistle and a long walk back on defense.

Halftime! O. J. Simpson has the hardwood pattern imprinted on his elbow. Small detail: O. J. Simpson whistles the national anthem before every game. Off-key. Consistently off-key. And now, our halftime TV game show Wheel of Misfortune! To win a lifetime supply of expired coupons, text HOOPS to 555-0142 and answer this question: 'How many hot dogs fit inside a regulation gym locker if you really commit?' Back at it! The players jog toward center court.

The messiah just moved an entire defense with one flick of the wrist. Somebody check that resume again. O. J. Simpson rips it back into the stepback and suddenly there is a country mile between him and that defender. Watch the feet on O. J. Simpson there, still drifting sideways at the release, and that is exactly why the floater sails wide left of everything.

Baseline wide open. Jesus Christ said thank you. Jesus Christ blows the wide open layup!

Turnover, layup, San Antonio Skyscrapers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Megatron gets it on the reversal and now this defense is rotating, scrambling and losing ground, all because Jesus Christ saw it a beat early. The warlord just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. Missed layup for the youtuber and the whole arena groans as one. Great hands in the day job, apparently they do not travel.

More second chance points for San Antonio Skyscrapers, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Screened, toasted, done. O. J. Simpson is loose and the defense is scrambling to find him. In, around, and gone. The iron gives O. J. Simpson nothing.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the messiah, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. The player just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. The athlete hammers a brick off the backboard so hard the rim is still shaking. Nothing in that resume prepared anybody for this.

Cold blooded from San Antonio Skyscrapers, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Set called, MrBeast waved out to the corner, and O. J. Simpson watches the spacing open up like a front door. The youtuber reads the screen perfectly, comes off shoulder to shoulder, and buys himself an open look. Veteran movement, rookie resume. MrBeast rises up from fifteen feet and OHHHH, that rattled in and OUT!

Two decoy screens, a flare to the weak side, then Megatron coming off the second one. That is the whole thing. Look at the spacing here, two shooters lifting to drag the help, and that leaves Godzilla an easy read to MrBeast in the pocket. Chess.

Megatron refuses San Antonio Skyscrapers's handshake. Godzilla offers a limp one with just his fingertips. While you were watching the game, I was desperately searching for my pen. Still haven't found it. We're out. Up next: 'Say Yes to the Dress: Budget Three Fifty, Theme: Elastic.' Good luck.

Matchday 15vs Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest

78-122 (L)

Total control. O. J. Simpson has this thing on a string. One little shoulder dip from Godzilla and the guy guarding him turned into a traffic cone in real time. The player just created that shot from scratch and drained it. Not bad for somebody clocking in at a real job tomorrow morning.

Godzilla finds the courtside camera lens, leans all the way in and says absolutely nothing. Just breathes on it. Eight seconds of national television filled by one enormous face. Jesus Christ photobombs with crossed eyes, and the clip runs on every highlight show by midnight.

Swing, swing, and MrBeast finds O. J. Simpson on the wing before the help can even turn its head. The athlete just froze a grown professional with a hesitation dribble. This man punches a clock and he is out here doing THAT. Pull-up from the elbow by O. J. Simpson, halfway down, spinning inside the iron, and it pops right back out.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! MrBeast spun out of a double team like it was a revolving door! You can live with most mistakes, but fouling MrBeast behind the arc gets you a seat next to the coach.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Punish the help, that is the rule, and O. J. Simpson just did it by hitting Godzilla on the back side with acres of room. The defender crowded the middle, and Godzilla punished him along the baseline like it was drawn up in the huddle. The player had two points in the bank and the iron took them right back out. You do not get heartbreak like that in the day job.

Halftime. O. J. Simpson glances at his phone for two seconds and puts it back. Fun fact: O. J. Simpson tried to patent a celebration after a three-pointer. The application was rejected. And now, our halftime TV game show Supermarket Sweep the Leg! To win a fifty-five gallon drum of ranch dressing, text HOOPS to 555-0088 and answer this question: 'How many stripes are on a basketball if you also count the ones inside?' Back on the court. The coach changed the starting five, that'll be a surprise.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

The bench has completely lost its mind over the messiah! There are lifers in this league who never get a reaction like that. REJECTED! Jesus Christ gets ALL of that jumper and the building erupts!

More second chance points for Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Here is the part that never makes the highlight package: O. J. Simpson controlling tempo, burning clock, hunting the mismatch the second one shows up. Backdoor, easy two, Jesus Christ. Nap time on that side of the floor. OHHHH what a FINISH from Jesus Christ! Hanging, hanging, and laying it high off the glass on the way down!

Nothing but a nod. Jesus Christ jogs back on defense with his eyes half closed, like the shot was a formality he had penciled in. The entire arena is levitating and he could not look less involved. The Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest bench looks personally insulted.

Megatron reaches, finds nothing but forearm, and the whistle comes right along with it. No argument at all. Megatron claps once, hands the ball to the official and heads for the chair. Four fouls, night on pause.

Cold blooded from Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Cross court, on a rope, from the youtuber. In this league that pass earns a contract, and he does it on his night off. Second pass beats the rotation, Jesus Christ to MrBeast, and the closeout gets there about half a second too late. Third one of these from MrBeast this quarter, third time the arc is wrong. The lane is not open real estate anymore.

Bucket for Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

That is a foot speed problem. Godzilla keeps grabbing instead of sliding, and in this league that gets your coach a miserable night.

Back at the shop they have got this review up on every phone with the player in the frame, and nobody is getting any work done. The officials come back out, cross their arms, and Godzilla goes from hero to spectator on one signal.

MrBeast turns back to look at the court one last time. Megatron doesn't turn around. And here is the answer to our game Supermarket Sweep the Leg! Junior Pennywhistle of Slab Town, Kentucky, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many stripes are on a basketball if you also count the ones inside?' The answer was of course eight, and the ninth is a private matter. Junior takes home a fifty-five gallon drum of ranch dressing! As for me, I powered through three coffees and a gas station sandwich. The glamorous life of sports journalism. That's all for today. Up next: 'Dateline: The True Cost of a Cup of Yogurt.' Deep investigation.

My Team finishes #16 (0W-15L). Better luck next season! MVP: Megatron.
