Decades of Singapore handball, endless ways to imagine it.

From the Handball Federation of Singapore (HFS) onwards, Singapore handball is built on the university league (NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD) and JC/secondary school circuit. Although smaller than the top Asian nations, Singapore competes regularly in Asian Championship qualifiers and SEA Games. The Singapore Sports Hub and various sports halls host top-flight handball.

1985-2010 · Pioneer era

HFS and the university system

The Handball Federation of Singapore (HFS) was established as the national governing body. Handball developed primarily through the National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University, and the Junior College/secondary school sports circuit. The national team began competing at SEA Games.

2010 → 2026 · Modern era

Growth in universities and SEA Games

Over the last decade, handball has expanded across NUS, NTU, SMU, SUTD, and SIM, plus community clubs. The Singapore Handball League runs as the local top competition. The national team (men's and women's) competes at SEA Games against Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines. Target: qualification for the 2027 World Championship.
