Pre-season

Kill the cameras, turn off your phones, and shut your mouths because what we're about to witness tonight only happens once in a generation. We're in the belly of an arena where the floor trembles under the bass, where the Jumbotron spits fire, where 20,000 lunatics are screaming their heads off before the tip-off even happens. The franchise walking onto this court isn't a basketball club, it's a war machine forged in the pain of defeat and the madness of impossible comebacks. Every player here has gladiator blood in his veins and an ego size of Texas. The team with no name, baby! The real reason this building is at capacity? It's him. Napoleon. The man. The beast. Standing at 168 cm, and not an ounce of fat, all lean muscle and raw talent. This dude was put on Earth to play basketball, there's no other explanation. Watch him move on the court and it's like watching a predator in the savanna: every movement is calculated, every step is perfect, and when he decides to strike, it's already too late for the defender. Nature built a monster, and we're lucky enough to watch him play tonight. His teammate told me something last week that gave me chills. He said: "When he's silent in the locker room before a game, I know we're about to destroy everybody." The man doesn't talk, he executes. He doesn't celebrate, he absorbs. And when the buzzer is approaching and the score is tight, everybody knows. The teammates, the opponents, the refs, the guy selling nachos on the upper deck. Everybody knows the ball is ending up in his hands. And it's ending up in the basket. Alright, we need to address the elephant in the room. Or rather, the comedy show on the roster. Charlie Kirk is on this team. Charlie Kirk, who is a conspiracy theorist and doesn't even know what "pick-and-roll" means. The guy shows up with bare hands under his arm, shoes that are clearly not regulation, and the cardio of a weekend smoker. At his first practice, he tried a crossover and twisted his ankle. At his second, he attempted a layup and the ball flew into the stands. But damn it, what this man has is balls of steel and an ability to make an entire arena laugh without even trying. And that, my friends, is worth every max contract in the world. The budget? What budget? We're so far below the salary floor you could limbo under it blindfolded. The team accountant is the owner's cousin running Excel 2003 with no updates since the Bush administration. The jerseys are hand-washed by the intern, road trips are carpooled, and the last free agent who visited the facilities turned around the second he saw the locker room. But you know what? Character is forged in the struggle. And this team's got character coming out of its damn ears.

Matchday 1vs Detroit Engine-Roar

83-127 (L)

Tip is UP and Peter Griffin gets there first! We are underway and it is our ball.

Cold blooded from Detroit Engine-Roar, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Charlie Kirk did that, and now the loudest twelve people in this arena are all wearing the same uniform he is. Nobody gambles less and steals more than Napoleon. He does not reach, he anticipates, and that is the whole difference.

The farmer just froze a grown professional with a hesitation dribble. This man punches a clock and he is out here doing THAT. Whistle! Simo Häyhä got hacked on the way up. Two shots coming. First one drops clean through, the second one never even touches iron. Cold blooded from Simo Häyhä.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Detroit Engine-Roar with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Rest. Charlie Kirk buries his head in a wet towel and doesn't move. Did you know Charlie Kirk started basketball because he was terrible at soccer? Sometimes failure leads to greatness. And now, our halftime TV game show Second Chance Second Half! To win a hand painted mailbox shaped like a catfish, text HOOPS to 555-1006 and answer this question: 'What is the population of a town on the night of a rivalry game?' Play resumes! The coach set a few things straight in the locker room.

That crossover was not about getting a shot up. Napoleon pulled it out to tell everybody in the gym whose possession this is. The military leader had that thing halfway down and the rim spat it back out. Nobody ever warns you that the iron has a personality.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Detroit Engine-Roar, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

OHHHH, no no no! Simo Häyhä steps into a contested step-back with eighteen on the clock and clangs it. Greedy.

Bucket for Detroit Engine-Roar. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Full stop, full sprint, and the farmer is in the paint! Nobody back at the workplace is going to believe this one. Shot clock at one, and Simo Häyhä just has to throw something at the rim. Nothing doing.

More second chance points for Detroit Engine-Roar, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Oh, Charlie Kirk wanted to be heard. Congratulations, he was heard. Free throw the other way.

Watch the spacing there, Charlie Kirk hits Peter Griffin right in the shooting pocket and the possession stays alive. Everybody in the arena knew the stepback was coming from Peter Griffin, and not one single soul could do anything about it. Watch the footwork there from Peter Griffin on the catch, squared up before the ball ever arrives. That is exactly why it goes down so clean.

Towels are FLYING for the conspiracy theorist! Going back to the day job on Monday is going to feel extremely strange after a night like this. That is ninety-four feet of pure effort from Simo Häyhä, and that is the play a locker room remembers in April.

Hold everything, they are going to the replay on Peter Griffin, and this building has stopped breathing. OHHHH the cruelty! Two tenths, and Peter Griffin gets absolutely nothing.

Napoleon and Simo Häyhä share a single look. Just one. It contains all the disappointment in the world. And here is the answer to our game show Second Chance Second Half! Hoyt Pennington of Dishrag Springs, Oregon, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the population of a town on the night of a rivalry game?' The answer was of course the whole town plus forty people who moved away in 1987. Hoyt therefore wins a hand painted mailbox shaped like a catfish! Yours truly survived this game without losing his voice. It was touch and go. That's a wrap! And now, the network's masterpiece: 'My Cat, My Battle.' Don't miss the finale.

Matchday 2vs Miami Heart-Attack

76-120 (L)

Miami Heart-Attack again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

That is a self-created look of the highest order, and there might be five guys in this league who get to it on demand the way Napoleon does. REJECTED! Napoleon takes it in and gets it sent straight back into his own chest.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Miami Heart-Attack with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

SKIP PASS! Simo Häyhä fires it cross court to Charlie Kirk and the defense is dead in the water! Charlie Kirk splits the coverage with a bounce pass you need slow motion to appreciate. Dimes. Soft off the fingertips, the ball takes a full lap of the rim on Homer Simpson, and spits straight back out. That is theft.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Miami Heart-Attack in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

The locker room fills up. Simo Häyhä has already eaten three oranges. Confession: Simo Häyhä believes the away locker room is haunted. Refuses to go in alone. And now, our halftime TV game show Triple Dog Dare Hour! To win two pails of driveway sealer that have never once been opened, text HOOPS to 555-0405 and answer this question: 'How many peanuts are dropped on the floor of an average arena per game?' There they are. The coach must have found the right words.

Here is the part that never makes the highlight package: Napoleon controlling tempo, burning clock, hunting the mismatch the second one shows up. Nobody in this building saw that cut coming except the player, and you cannot teach that kind of feel in any line of work. OHHHH the POWER! Peter Griffin took the hit and finished it anyway!

Simo Häyhä sets it and slides out instead of rolling, Napoleon finds him late, and the defense pays for cheating under the screen. Simo Häyhä rises up from fifteen feet and OHHHH, that rattled in and OUT!

Turnover, layup, Miami Heart-Attack straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Napoleon rips it back into the stepback and suddenly there is a country mile between him and that defender. Textbook footwork, textbook release from Napoleon, cruel result as it spins out and both teams go up for a contested board.

Dagger from Miami Heart-Attack. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Unselfish basketball. Charlie Kirk passes up a good shot and hands Simo Häyhä a GREAT one. Stuck holding it as the clock bleeds out, Simo Häyhä fades away from twenty-six feet, and it is not close.

OHHHH the hesi! Napoleon froze him solid and he is already gone! So close. Napoleon can only stare at the iron.

Nobody is getting a hand near that. Simo Häyhä has all the room in the world. Simo Häyhä pump fakes, gets the defender airborne, and walks right into his chest. Free throws. No wasted motion at all from Simo Häyhä. Both free throws split the net and the scoreboard ticks over twice.

OHHHH the bench is GONE! Towels over heads, bodies off the chairs, all because of Napoleon! The conspiracy theorist just ran the length of the floor to erase a layup off the backboard. Frame that one for the break room!

Reverse it, make them slide all over again, that is how Simo Häyhä breaks a shell down. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Charlie Kirk whips that pass one-handed on the move and the roll man gathers it through contact. Filthy. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was IN for Homer Simpson!

Homer Simpson sits on the floor in the hallway. Peter Griffin sits down next to him. Nobody speaks. And here is the answer to our game show Triple Dog Dare Hour! Maureen Skaggs of North Fork Elbow, Idaho, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'How many peanuts are dropped on the floor of an average arena per game?' The answer was of course four thousand and nine, not counting the ones nobody will admit to. Maureen therefore wins two pails of driveway sealer that have never once been opened! I spent this game nervously chewing gum. I'm on my seventh piece. That's a wrap for tonight. Coming up: 'The Amazing Race: Subway Line 13.' Viewer discretion advised.

Matchday 3vs Orlando Magic-Beans

82-118 (L)

Tip goes to the player, who spends most of the week nowhere near a gym. Explain that one to me.

Turnover, layup, Orlando Magic-Beans straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Court vision like that on the military leader is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. AIRBALL! Simo Häyhä missed the rim, the backboard and everything in between!

Oldest play in the book, and Napoleon runs it in his sleep. That drop coverage never had a prayer. Homer Simpson had that one all the way, perfect release, perfect arc, and the rim simply refuses to let it drop.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Orlando Magic-Beans in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Break! Napoleon takes his jersey off before even reaching the locker room. Juicy anecdote: Napoleon was caught dancing the Macarena in the showers. Alone. And now, our halftime TV game show Guy Reads a Manual! To win a family-size tub of margarine autographed by a stranger, text HOOPS to 555-0345 and answer this question: 'How many people can hear a vending machine at three in the morning?' Back at it! The coach said two words. Two words that were enough.

Ball moves. Simo Häyhä to Charlie Kirk, on time and on target. A probe, a plant of the outside foot, and Charlie Kirk pushes off while his man is still fighting to recover his balance. Catch, rise, splash. The conspiracy theorist owns the cleanest jumper on this floor and still has a shift to work in the morning.

Orlando Magic-Beans again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

No hero ball here: Simo Häyhä takes what the defense gives and moves it along. Baseline wide open. Homer Simpson said thank you. Gift wrapped by Peter Griffin, and Homer Simpson cannot finish the two footer. That one is going to sting.

More second chance points for Orlando Magic-Beans, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Charlie Kirk launches it weak side, one pass, and the whole shell has to sprint. Good luck with that. Watch the sell from Peter Griffin here, he leans in, he gets the defender leaning with him, and then he backs away into all that space. A cruel spin-out for the player, and whatever that day job is, tonight it came with a brand new way to break your heart.

The military leader is out here running a pro offense with hand signals, not one hint of panic, and he clocks in somewhere else in the morning. STOP AND GO! Simo Häyhä hit the brakes, hit the gas, and the lane opened up like a garage door. Drop step, jump hook, bucket! Simo Häyhä is doing it the old way.

Dagger from Orlando Magic-Beans. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Napoleon kicks it over to Charlie Kirk, no dribble, no drama, and this offense settles into a rhythm. The conspiracy theorist just made the extra pass with a clean look of his own! You do not run into that kind of selflessness at the office! Rim, backboard, none of the above from the farmer! Ladies and gentlemen, that is a person with a real job, and we have all just been reminded of it.

This has turned into a private conversation. Charlie Kirk scores, the man across from him scores, run it again.

That is the pass nobody puts on a highlight reel, and Simo Häyhä makes it every single trip down the floor. Watch the spacing, Peter Griffin drags two bodies toward the ball and Simo Häyhä is standing alone behind the line. Geometry, not luck. The farmer launched one from the logo as the horn sounded. In fairness, nobody in that huddle gave him a better option.

Simo Häyhä punches his locker when he gets to the locker room. Charlie Kirk slides down the wall to the floor. And here is the answer to our game Guy Reads a Manual! Doris Ann Hoke of Butter Churn, New Hampshire, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many people can hear a vending machine at three in the morning?' The answer was of course everybody in the building, including the ones pretending to sleep. Doris Ann takes home a family-size tub of margarine autographed by a stranger! During the third quarter, I spilled my soup. Yes, I had soup in the booth. Don't judge. This was your favorite commentator. Coming up: 'Extreme Makeover: Garage Edition.' Don't change the channel. Or do.

Matchday 4vs Philadelphia Injury-Report

86-131 (L)

The player just out-jumped a guy half a foot taller for the opening tip. Somebody check the day job again.

You judge a locker room by moments like this. Peter Griffin makes the play, and every man on that sideline erupts right along with him. Second rejection of the quarter for Simo Häyhä, and you can see the shooters hesitating on that wing already.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Philadelphia Injury-Report with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Reach-in on the conspiracy theorist. He tried to take the ball the way he takes everything else on the job, politely and with both hands.

Turnover, layup, Philadelphia Injury-Report straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Halftime. The doctor examines Charlie Kirk's shoulder while the others catch their breath. Anecdote: Charlie Kirk once shot at the wrong basket during warm-ups. Nobody has forgotten. And now, our halftime TV game show Bowling for Bologna! To win a set of hubcaps for a car that nobody makes anymore, text HOOPS to 555-0204 and answer this question: 'How many buttons on a scoreboard controller actually do anything?' Break's over, the players take their positions.

Napoleon turns and points at his teammates, and the entire bench comes up as one. Peter Griffin times the leap perfectly and swallows that layup whole. Put it on the front page, that is the play of the night.

Dagger from Philadelphia Injury-Report. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

They do not teach that in the military leader handbook, and yet here we are. Beautiful little exchange. Charlie Kirk blows the wide open layup!

Bucket for Philadelphia Injury-Report. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Across half court, a quick survey, a point to the weak side, and Napoleon drops it off to Simo Häyhä on time and on target. Enough room out there to set up a lawn chair, and the farmer made it himself. Total professional, in a completely unrelated profession. Count it AND the foul! Simo Häyhä refused to be denied at the rim.

Simo Häyhä crosses his arms into an X, plants his feet at the top of the key and dares somebody to say something. Nobody does. Peter Griffin mirrors the pose beside him. Two statues, twenty thousand people screaming, and every camera in the gym pointed at them.

Personal foul on the military leader. Somewhere a shift is going uncovered and not one soul in this arena cares. The military leader is in foul trouble already! Whatever hands-on skills that job teaches, none of them are legal in this league.

The farmer is running this zone like he has been drawing it up his entire life. Wrong career, my friend, absolutely the wrong career.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Philadelphia Injury-Report in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Filthy. Absolutely filthy from Simo Häyhä, and the defender knows exactly what just happened to him. That is a shot selection problem, plain and simple. Simo Häyhä drove into three bodies and the help defender was waiting the whole way.

Whole huddle leaning in to hear it, and the plan is to hand the game to the military leader. Genius or madness, we are about to find out. Drawn up in the huddle, executed by the player, who clocks in somewhere else on Monday morning. Perfect.

Slow walk, no expression. Peter Griffin backpedals past the Philadelphia Injury-Report huddle close enough to hear what is being said and never turns his head. The crowd noise is a physical object at this point. One of their assistants stands up, and nothing comes of it.

Charlie Kirk hurls his water bottle at the wall. Peter Griffin flinches but doesn't react. And here is the answer to our game Bowling for Bologna! Faye Ellen Duckworth of Sweat Bee, Connecticut, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many buttons on a scoreboard controller actually do anything?' The answer was of course two, and the rest are there for confidence. Faye Ellen takes home a set of hubcaps for a car that nobody makes anymore! Tonight I chewed through two pens. The office supply budget is going to explode. That's it for tonight. Coming up: 'Nailed It: Cakes Ruined by My Mother-in-Law.'

Matchday 5vs Phoenix No-Defense

89-130 (L)

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Phoenix No-Defense, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

The farmer lines one up from four feet behind the line and the rim rejects the application on the spot. Back to the day job on that possession. The farmer outworked everybody on the glass! Effort does not care what is printed on your business card. OHHHH, what a read by Simo Häyhä! He never even glanced at the rim and it is CASH on the other end. Perfect arc. Napoleon makes seven feet of rim protection completely irrelevant.

The whole second unit is on the floor before the ball is out of the net. Napoleon disappears underneath them. Somewhere in the pile shoe comes off. Simo Häyhä is on the outside of it screaming straight up at the ceiling.

Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A military leader making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. Moving screen on the farmer. The rule book is weeping and the coach is already up off the bench.

Ball up the floor, change of speed right at the logo, and Napoleon already has the defense a full step behind. The farmer pulls out the crossover of his life, and Monday morning he clocks in like nothing ever happened. Twenty-four seconds of standing around, and Simo Häyhä has to eat the last two of them. Possession wasted long before the shot went up.

Turnover, layup, Phoenix No-Defense straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Time to breathe. Napoleon has both hands on both knees, completely cooked. I've been told Napoleon always puts his left shoe on first. The one day he switched, gave up 40 points. And now, our halftime TV game show Whammy Watch Live! To win a barrel of packing peanuts and absolutely nothing else, text HOOPS to 555-1073 and answer this question: 'How tall is the shortest player who ever dunked in a dream?' Back on the floor, faces full of determination.

Push the pace! Napoleon grabs it and hits Peter Griffin in stride before the defense can even match up. This is the counter: Peter Griffin punished a defense that kept going under, and now they have to rip up the game plan. Oldest play in the book and it still works: Homer Simpson passes, the defender peeks at the ball, and that one beat is the whole possession. Runner in the lane by Homer Simpson, high off the fingertips, straight down through the net. Splash!

Shoving match at the scorer's table, except it is between Napoleon and an assistant coach who both want to hug Homer Simpson first. Homer Simpson lets them sort it out. The trainer has given up on protecting anybody. Somebody's clipboard is already on the floor.

Watch the swing here: ten unanswered points from Charlie Kirk in barely two minutes, and the entire complexion of this game has flipped. The opposing coach is off his seat waving both arms before the ball is even inbounded. Napoleon forced that.

Phoenix No-Defense again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

The farmer just threaded a pocket pass through two defenders. Where exactly did that vision come from? No touch. Peter Griffin left the soft hands in the locker room tonight.

The military leader makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. Not an inch to spare on the endline, but Charlie Kirk keeps both feet in bounds and the help gets there a beat too late. Perfect drop-off from Homer Simpson, and Charlie Kirk answers with... whatever that was. Off the glass, off the rim, and gone.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Phoenix No-Defense with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Look at that bench! Homer Simpson just lit the fuse! Nobody told the conspiracy theorist that chasedown blocks are supposed to be above his pay grade.

More second chance points for Phoenix No-Defense, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Eight seconds off the shot clock and Napoleon has not wasted one of them, the ball reaching Charlie Kirk precisely where the play wanted it. A conspiracy theorist breaking down a professional defender in front of a sold out house! Remember that day job, folks! Two points left on the floor by Charlie Kirk, and those are exactly the ones that come back to bite you in the fourth.

Chased down from behind and wrapped up before he can get into his dribble, all courtesy of Homer Simpson. Here comes the free throw parade.

Peter Griffin hurls his mouthguard into the trash. Napoleon keeps his in, chewing on the frustration. And here is the answer to our game show Whammy Watch Live! Doris Ann Pickerel of Skunk Cabbage, Connecticut, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'How tall is the shortest player who ever dunked in a dream?' The answer was of course five foot two, and the dream was extremely convincing. Doris Ann therefore wins a barrel of packing peanuts and absolutely nothing else! Fun fact: my driver has been waiting in the parking lot for an hour. He's sent me 14 messages. That's it for tonight. Coming up: 'Nailed It: Cakes Ruined by My Mother-in-Law.'

Matchday 6vs Los Angeles Nursing-Home

84-129 (L)

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Los Angeles Nursing-Home, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Baseline spin from Napoleon at full speed, and his man never even gets a hand into the picture. Filthy stuff. Two on the shot clock and the ball ends up with the military leader, which is how you get a twenty-eight footer off the wrong foot.

Bucket for Los Angeles Nursing-Home. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

OHHHH that is a bad one from Charlie Kirk! He hauls the ball handler down in the open floor and the whole arena is up and howling.

Turnover, layup, Los Angeles Nursing-Home straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Time to breathe. Charlie Kirk has both hands on both knees, completely cooked. Word is Charlie Kirk sleeps with his basketball shoes on. I can't confirm it, but the source is reliable. And now, our halftime TV game show Family Feudal! To win a five-gallon bucket of assorted screws from a stranger's garage, text HOOPS to 555-0263 and answer this question: 'What color is a school bus at two in the morning?' The players jog toward the court. The air is electric.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the military leader, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. One hard step and Simo Häyhä owns that whole side of the floor, which means the low man has to make a decision he does not want. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Simo Häyhä rose up over the help and hammered it down on somebody's head!

One finger to the sky, held there, eyes closed in the middle of all that noise, and Simo Häyhä does not move. The arena figures it out and quiets for a beat. Homer Simpson puts a hand on his back and says nothing, then the sound comes back like a wave.

Napoleon walks it up, two fingers in the air, and the whole offense shifts on his command. BAAAANG! Charlie Kirk sets the table and the pick-and-pop three goes down like somebody scripted it. That is the shot Peter Griffin wants every trip down the floor, it drops nine nights out of ten, and tonight is the tenth.

A chair knocked flat, an assistant coach holding somebody back by the jersey, that whole row completely unhinged. That is the Simo Häyhä effect.

Cold blooded from Los Angeles Nursing-Home, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

The zone is set with Napoleon anchoring the middle of it and there is NOWHERE to go! Fingertips! Homer Simpson gets just enough on it and the ball squirts loose.

The conspiracy theorist launched one from the logo as the horn sounded. In fairness, nobody in that huddle gave him a better option. Hustle play of the night so far. Napoleon gave up his ribs for one extra possession and the bench is on its feet. Napoleon drives, draws two bodies, and swings it one more time to the corner. That is the pass nobody is required to make. The whistle blows, the crowd erupts, and Peter Griffin hangs on the iron just long enough to make his point.

Chest bump so violent that Peter Griffin and Napoleon both end up on the hardwood. They lie there laughing while play is stopped. A trainer jogs out to make sure nobody cracked a rib. The crowd is chanting before either man gets back to his feet.

Late rotation from Napoleon, he arrives half a beat behind the drive and the contact is obvious to everybody in the building.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Los Angeles Nursing-Home in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

The bench has completely lost its mind over the player! There are lifers in this league who never get a reaction like that. Somewhere there is a shift with the farmer written on it for tomorrow morning. Tonight he is out here erasing shots.

Back at the shop they have got this review up on every phone with the farmer in the frame, and nobody is getting any work done. The building went up, the building came right back down, and Homer Simpson is staring at a scoreboard that never moved.

Peter Griffin lets out a big exhale walking through the door. Homer Simpson holds his in. And here is the answer to our game Family Feudal! Randy Dinkins of Sockburn, Ohio, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'What color is a school bus at two in the morning?' The answer was of course still yellow, but it means something different. Randy takes home a five-gallon bucket of assorted screws from a stranger's garage! Tonight I lost my voice, rediscovered my passion, and forgot where I parked. A complete evening. Until next time! Up next: 'Kitchen Nightmares: Corporate Cafeteria.' This is gonna be good.

Matchday 7vs Toronto Border-Patrol

82-127 (L)

The bench has completely lost its mind over the farmer! There are lifers in this league who never get a reaction like that. OHHHH, Charlie Kirk just took that thing right out of his hands!

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Toronto Border-Patrol with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Simo Häyhä just took a shoulder to the chest to buy Charlie Kirk half a second, and half a second in this league is an eternity. Watch the feet on Charlie Kirk there, still drifting sideways at the release, and that is exactly why the floater sails wide left of everything.

Toronto Border-Patrol again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Peter Griffin forces a contested fadeaway with a hand in his face, front rim, and the drought rolls on. Two on the shot clock and the ball ends up with the player, which is how you get a twenty-eight footer off the wrong foot.

The players head in. Napoleon slips on the wet tunnel floor. Anecdote: Napoleon slipped on a banana peel during practice. The videos leaked. The internet never forgets. And now, our halftime TV game show The Swap Meet Half Hour! To win a car dealership balloon man with no fan, text HOOPS to 555-1318 and answer this question: 'What is the top speed of a mascot running in oversized shoes?' Back on the hardwood. The tension has gone up a notch.

Napoleon stutters at the elbow, the defender bites on it, and now there is nothing but open floor between him and the rim. Rim out for Napoleon, the crowd came up and sat right back down, and you can hear the groan from every corner of the arena.

Dagger from Toronto Border-Patrol. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Simo Häyhä does not love that call. Both hands in the air, a long look at the official, and the whistle still counts. Most defenders get to use their hands. Simo Häyhä has five, so he is out there guarding with his eyebrows.

Snatched! Simo Häyhä came out of NOWHERE for that one. The farmer just threw an outlet that traveled farther than most people commute. Absurd. The conspiracy theorist just put somebody on a POSTER! That defender is going to see this clip for the rest of his life!

Charlie Kirk runs the baseline high-fiving every hand hanging over the rail, all the way to the corner and back. It takes forever. Play is waiting on him. Nobody in the building wants it to stop, including, visibly, the officials.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Toronto Border-Patrol in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Napoleon turns the corner off the screen from Homer Simpson, the help never rotates, and the lane is WIDE open! You can hear that rim ringing from up here, Homer Simpson has forced three in a row now and the whole offense has stopped moving.

GET THAT OUTTA HERE! Homer Simpson meets that jumper at the top of its flight and spikes it into the sideline.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Toronto Border-Patrol with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Cross court, on a rope, from the military leader. In this league that pass earns a contract, and he does it on his night off. The farmer just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. A cruel spin-out for the conspiracy theorist, and whatever that day job is, tonight it came with a brand new way to break your heart.

Two decoy screens, a flare to the weak side, then Homer Simpson coming off the second one. That is the whole thing. Napoleon delivers on the second option, Charlie Kirk buries it, and the coach is already walking back to the bench like he knew. He did know.

Charlie Kirk sprints to the sideline, hops onto the scorer's table and raises both fists. The stat crew grabs their laptops and security is already moving. A trainer hauls him down by the shorts before anybody gets fined. Worth it, obviously.

Napoleon rips off his headband and throws it on the ground. Simo Häyhä picks up his own and folds it carefully. And here is the answer to our game show The Swap Meet Half Hour! Lurleen Ratliff of Sopchoppy Flats, Florida, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the top speed of a mascot running in oversized shoes?' The answer was of course nine miles an hour downhill, four uphill, and zero once the head falls off. Lurleen therefore wins a car dealership balloon man with no fan! Tonight I had a revelation: Simo Häyhä runs exactly like my neighbor when he misses the bus. Thanks for the game! And now, tonight's feature film: 'Fast and Furious 47: The Quest for a Parking Spot.'

Matchday 8vs Minnesota Ice-Wall

81-125 (L)

Minnesota Ice-Wall again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

The military leader just froze a grown professional with a hesitation dribble. This man punches a clock and he is out here doing THAT. Look at Napoleon mouthing an apology toward his own bench before the call is even announced. He knew instantly.

The conspiracy theorist is in a full blown heat check and the building has stopped pretending this is normal. That is not a hot streak, that is a takeover. Bad shot. Everybody in the gym knew it the second Charlie Kirk loaded up.

Total control. Napoleon has this thing on a string. Here comes the slip from Napoleon, and Simo Häyhä reads it a half second before anybody else in the building. Ball into Simo Häyhä at the elbow, Napoleon plants his foot and goes backdoor, and the pass meets him in the air. Filthy. That little shot is what keeps guards employed in this league, and Napoleon has it on a string tonight.

Napoleon cups a hand to his ear and turns a slow full circle, milking every section. The upper deck answers louder than the lower bowl, so he points up there and nods. Homer Simpson joins the spin. Forty seconds of noise before anybody inbounds the ball.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Minnesota Ice-Wall with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Cut! Halftime. Napoleon's jersey is completely drenched in sweat. Anecdote: Napoleon lost a bet and had to wear the center's shoes during warm-ups. Size 16. And now, our halftime TV game show The Newlywed Timeout! To win a family size bag of off brand cheese puffs, text HOOPS to 555-0472 and answer this question: 'How far away can a scoreboard buzzer be heard by a dog?' Resumption imminent. The players wrap up their express warm-up.

Three guys in warmups are halfway onto the floor celebrating what Homer Simpson just did, and an official has to wave them back to their seats.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the conspiracy theorist, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A military leader making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. The farmer hammers a brick off the backboard so hard the rim is still shaking. Nothing in that resume prepared anybody for this.

Simo Häyhä is barking at the official, arms out, eyes wide, and there it is. The T comes flying in.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Minnesota Ice-Wall, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

The big man never even contested it, and Napoleon still could not get the runner to drop. That one is on him. Another extra possession courtesy of the farmer, a man who evidently boxes out at work too. Some habits do not clock out. That is pure want-to: Simo Häyhä was the only man on the floor who decided that rebound belonged to him.

Shimmy from the corner all the way to half court, shoulders loose, chin high. Simo Häyhä is in no hurry whatsoever. The home bench tries to copy it and produces something closer to a seizure. The building decides it loves both versions equally.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Minnesota Ice-Wall in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

A full spin move through traffic from the military leader! Whatever they teach in that trade, footwork is apparently part of it. Simo Häyhä threads a BEAUTY to Napoleon under the rim and... he lays it off the bottom of the iron! Ohhhh, no.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Minnesota Ice-Wall with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

The farmer just moved an entire defense with one flick of the wrist. Somebody check that resume again. Hard drive, hard stop, and Peter Griffin retreats into an ocean of open hardwood. Two on the shot clock and the ball ends up with the player, which is how you get a twenty-eight footer off the wrong foot.

Inbounds pass and Homer Simpson is on him instantly, two hands on the jersey, whistle. The clock freezes at nineteen point four.

Napoleon turns back to look at the court one last time. Peter Griffin doesn't turn around. And here is the answer to our game show The Newlywed Timeout! Dewey Spillman of Frostbite Flats, Minnesota, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'How far away can a scoreboard buzzer be heard by a dog?' The answer was of course three and a half miles, and the dog does not care for it. Dewey therefore wins a family size bag of off brand cheese puffs! Your commentator broke his personal screaming record tonight. My throat is not thanking me. Thanks for being here. Coming up: 'Forbidden Zone: Behind the Scenes of a Vending Machine.'

Matchday 9vs Houston Blast-Off

83-128 (L)

Dagger from Houston Blast-Off. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Charlie Kirk attacks the baseline and the ENTIRE defense has to rotate behind him! The conspiracy theorist spots up in the corner and drills it like it is nothing. Somewhere a shooting coach is crying tears of joy.

One finger to the sky, held there, eyes closed in the middle of all that noise, and Charlie Kirk does not move. The arena figures it out and quiets for a beat. Homer Simpson puts a hand on his back and says nothing, then the sound comes back like a wave.

Turnover, layup, Houston Blast-Off straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Clean feed from Charlie Kirk, nothing forced, just the offense breathing. Nobody dribbled, nobody isolated, Simo Häyhä and Charlie Kirk just played basketball and the defense got shredded. The farmer launched one from the logo as the horn sounded. In fairness, nobody in that huddle gave him a better option.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Houston Blast-Off with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

The players disappear into the tunnel. Simo Häyhä asks for an ice pack. Fun fact: Simo Häyhä was voted best-looking player on the team. By his mom. In a poll she created herself. And now, our halftime TV game show Truth or Consequences of Turnovers! To win a doorbell that plays eleven seconds of a song nobody requested, text HOOPS to 555-0644 and answer this question: 'How many turnovers does it take to fill a standard laundry hamper?' There they are. The coach must have found the right words.

Court vision like that on the military leader is absurd. Whatever the day job pays him, the assist numbers say he is badly underpriced. Every highlight show in the country runs that clip tonight, and unfortunately for Homer Simpson he is on the wrong end of it.

The military leader runs a dribble handoff with the timing of a fifteen-year vet. Not bad for somebody who does this on weekends. The farmer just double dribbled in front of a sold-out building. Nobody back at work is ever letting that one go.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Houston Blast-Off, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Swing, swing, and Napoleon finds Charlie Kirk on the wing before the help can even turn its head. Screen, hesitation, delivery, Charlie Kirk drops it off perfectly for Peter Griffin diving to the rim. Pull-up from the elbow by Peter Griffin, halfway down, spinning inside the iron, and it pops right back out.

Laser from Charlie Kirk, corner to corner, and that closeout gets there about a second and a half too late. OHHHH he went BACKDOOR! Peter Griffin never broke stride and he has the ball UNDER THE RIM! Baby hook by Peter Griffin, right over that outstretched hand, high off the board, count it.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Houston Blast-Off with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Five bodies moving as one, Homer Simpson barking out every rotation, and there is not a crack anywhere in this thing. The farmer out here on the deck fighting for loose balls. Nobody pays him for that, and he could not care less.

That is the pass that beats a zone, and Charlie Kirk threw it before the help even committed. OHHHH the pocket pass! Peter Griffin splits the coverage and the roll man is loose under the basket! The military leader had that thing halfway down and the rim spat it back out. Nobody ever warns you that the iron has a personality.

Punish the help, that is the rule, and Charlie Kirk just did it by hitting Napoleon on the back side with acres of room. Napoleon hands it off to Charlie Kirk, slices through the seam, and the return pass is sitting there waiting at the rim. Not a hand on him. Napoleon flat missed the bunny.

The farmer just created his own space with a stepback. Somewhere a scout is spitting coffee all over his notepad. The farmer misses absolutely everything, and honestly, the nerve to even attempt that shot deserves something. Not points. But something.

Simo Häyhä whispers 'this can't be real' under his breath. Charlie Kirk nods without conviction. And here is the answer to our game show Truth or Consequences of Turnovers! Lorene Kirkpatrick of Broken Hoop, New Mexico, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'How many turnovers does it take to fill a standard laundry hamper?' The answer was of course nineteen, or four if they are the really big ones. Lorene therefore wins a doorbell that plays eleven seconds of a song nobody requested! On my end, I ate three chocolate bars during the timeouts. Sports make you hungry, even in the booth. See you tomorrow! Up next: 'Extreme Reading: The Terms and Conditions.' 4-hour special.

Matchday 10vs Denver Horse-Track

77-122 (L)

Turnover, layup, Denver Horse-Track straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

The farmer makes the simple read look automatic. Clock out of work, clock in for clean basketball decisions. The farmer just made the extra pass with a clean look of his own! You do not run into that kind of selflessness at the office! Getting to his spot and elevating, Napoleon puts it on the back iron, up over the front, and out. Half a rotation from two points.

More second chance points for Denver Horse-Track, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the farmer, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. OHHHHH HE SNATCHED HIS ANKLES! Homer Simpson left him on the hardwood and this building is SHAKING! Long miss from the farmer and the rebound goes the other way, but let the record show that most people in that line of work never even get to take that shot.

Napoleon feels the contact, spins off that shoulder, and the defender is left hugging a whole lot of nothing. Prayer from Napoleon. Not answered.

Heading in. Homer Simpson's eyes are bloodshot from sheer effort. Exclusive: Homer Simpson was caught reading a philosophy book on the bench. It was Nietzsche. And now, our halftime TV game show The Weakest Rebound! To win a first place pepper jelly ribbon from the 1996 state fair, text HOOPS to 555-1327 and answer this question: 'What is the official color of the squeak sneaker makes on a wet floor?' Back for the second half. The coach slammed his fist on the table.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Denver Horse-Track with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

The military leader just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. Rising into two defenders, Homer Simpson launches a jumper that finds nothing but backboard and bad decisions.

Bucket for Denver Horse-Track. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Somebody explain how the military leader reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. Screen, roll, DELIVERY from Simo Häyhä! Nothing but runway to the rim! Second pass beats the rotation, Napoleon to Peter Griffin, and the closeout gets there about half a second too late. Peter Griffin gathers on the baseline, absorbs contact from two bodies, and slams it home. That rim is still shaking.

Napoleon comes flying off that screen and he is WIDE open! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Two points in every gym in America except this one, and Napoleon is walking back with both hands on his head.

Set called, Peter Griffin waved out to the corner, and Napoleon watches the spacing open up like a front door. Give and go! Peter Griffin gives it up, cuts, and gets it right back with a clear lane to the cup! The player just spun through two defenders and reversed that in. Nothing about this is a normal Tuesday!

The farmer takes the baseline and bends an entire defense out of shape. Absolutely absurd stuff in this building tonight. OHHHH! Simo Häyhä went up looking for a poster and came back down as the punchline.

Cold blooded from Denver Horse-Track, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

The military leader is out here running a pro offense with hand signals, not one hint of panic, and he clocks in somewhere else in the morning. No roll this time. Homer Simpson swings it right back to Napoleon above the break, and it is PURE. Down, up, and gone for Napoleon. The rim is just toying with him now.

Cross court, on a rope, from the conspiracy theorist. In this league that pass earns a contract, and he does it on his night off. Straight down the baseline goes the farmer! Whatever shift he worked this morning, he clearly left plenty in the tank. That is the shot chart lying to you. Simo Häyhä did everything right on this possession and has zero points to show for it.

Simo Häyhä avoids the cameras like the plague. Charlie Kirk gets caught. Just says 'we'll be better'. And here is the answer to our game show The Weakest Rebound! Earlene Tidwell of Gizzard Ridge, Tennessee, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'What is the official color of the squeak sneaker makes on a wet floor?' The answer was of course a light mustard yellow, per the county Department of Squeaks. Earlene therefore wins a first place pepper jelly ribbon from the 1996 state fair! My evening? A microphone, cold coffee, and the greatest show on earth. What more could you ask for. Thanks for watching. Coming up: '48 Hours: The Secret Life of Roundabouts.' Essential viewing.

Matchday 11vs New York Over-Timers

86-130 (L)

Both guys crouch, both guys go, and it is Peter Griffin who wins the little argument at center court.

Ejected for fighting, the conspiracy theorist. Tomorrow morning he goes right back to being the calmest person in the room, allegedly.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. New York Over-Timers with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Homer Simpson gets it on the reversal and now this defense is rotating, scrambling and losing ground, all because Napoleon saw it a beat early. OHHHH the separation! Homer Simpson just manufactured three feet of daylight out of absolutely nothing. Homer Simpson gets to his spot in the lane, lifts the runner over the big man, and leaves it a foot short. No dice.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, New York Over-Timers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Halftime whistle! Homer Simpson grabs a towel and collapses on the bench. True story: Homer Simpson walked into the wrong locker room during his first game against New York Over-Timers. Awkward. And now, our halftime TV game show Family Feud But Nobody Is Related! To win a gently used trampoline with no springs and one very stern warning label, text HOOPS to 555-0231 and answer this question: 'How long does it take a hot dog to cool down in the upper deck in February?' Play resumes! The coach set a few things straight in the locker room.

Charlie Kirk kicks it over to Simo Häyhä, no dribble, no drama, and this offense settles into a rhythm. Hesitate, GO. Simo Häyhä is by that hip before the man even blinks. Zero hesitation, zero conscience. Simo Häyhä made that closeout look completely pointless.

Working him at the top of the key, low dribble, low dribble, then Napoleon rips it across and his man lunges at a ghost. Napoleon probes to the right, pulls the string, and rises over a helpless closeout from twenty six feet. Splash.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for New York Over-Timers with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

The farmer turns clean out of two bodies in the paint. That is nowhere in the job description and yet here we are. Filthy patience from Simo Häyhä. He waits for the fly-by, leans into it, and turns one possession into three free points.

Simo Häyhä felt it, the bench felt it, the arena felt it, and the rim felt absolutely nothing.

Cold blooded from New York Over-Timers, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Over the top of everybody. Simo Häyhä to Napoleon in the corner, wide open, catch and rise. Follow the ball there: four sets of hands, Napoleon makes the last read, and the defense never gets set. That is training camp offense. Clang. Charlie Kirk wants that one back.

Watch the spacing there, Charlie Kirk hits Napoleon right in the shooting pocket and the possession stays alive. Two defenders, one gap, and Napoleon finds it. Onions on that pass. Two on the shot clock and the ball ends up with the farmer, which is how you get a twenty-eight footer off the wrong foot.

Turnover, layup, New York Over-Timers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Total control. Napoleon has this thing on a string. From WAY downtown off the pop! Homer Simpson with the extra pass and CASH. Napoleon rises up from fifteen feet and OHHHH, that rattled in and OUT!

Napoleon mutters 'damn' under his breath. Simo Häyhä says 'yeah' in the same tone. And here is the answer to our game show Family Feud But Nobody Is Related! Delbert Cranfill of Bitter Creek Junction, Wyoming, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'How long does it take a hot dog to cool down in the upper deck in February?' The answer was of course eleven minutes, unless somebody nearby is breathing on it. Delbert therefore wins a gently used trampoline with no springs and one very stern warning label! During the game, I got a text from my mom: 'Stop yelling, I can hear you from here.' She lives 120 miles away. See you tomorrow! Up next: 'Extreme Reading: The Terms and Conditions.' 4-hour special.

Matchday 12vs Cleveland Twin-Towers

86-130 (L)

Dagger from Cleveland Twin-Towers. You could hear the air leave this arena on that one.

Right through the window. Simo Häyhä to Homer Simpson on the roll, and the help was a half step late. It went halfway down! The ball sat in the cylinder, thought about it, and rolled off the far side on Homer Simpson. Cruel.

Cleveland Twin-Towers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

The bench has completely lost its mind over the military leader! There are lifers in this league who never get a reaction like that. REJECTED! Charlie Kirk gets ALL of that jumper and the building erupts!

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Cleveland Twin-Towers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Time to breathe. Peter Griffin has both hands on both knees, completely cooked. Anecdote: Peter Griffin once wore his jersey inside out for the entire first quarter. Nobody dared say anything. And now, our halftime TV game show Cash Cab of the Parking Lot! To win a plug-in air freshener permanently stuck on the high setting, text HOOPS to 555-0975 and answer this question: 'Why is there always exactly one balloon stuck in the rafters?' The players charge out of the tunnel. Smells like a comeback.

Simo Häyhä rips it back into the stepback and suddenly there is a country mile between him and that defender. That is twice tonight Simo Häyhä has tried to create with the dribble already dead, and this league does not reward that.

The ball travels faster than five defenders can, and Charlie Kirk has known that all night long. SPIN and GO! Napoleon pirouettes right through the traffic and comes out the other side clean! The help defender had position, leverage, everything but a chance. Napoleon rose straight over the top of him, and one.

Ice in the veins: Napoleon taps two fingers on his wrist, slow and cold, while the horn is still fading. Courtside is standing on the chairs. The visiting bench does not move an inch. Somebody in the second row has already turned it into a T-shirt.

Clean feed from Napoleon, nothing forced, just the offense breathing. The big rolls, the defense collapses, and Homer Simpson punishes it with a read most guys never even see. Missed layup for the player and the whole arena groans as one. Great hands in the day job, apparently they do not travel.

Charlie Kirk kicks it over to Homer Simpson, no dribble, no drama, and this offense settles into a rhythm. Full stop, full sprint, and the farmer is in the paint! Nobody back at the workplace is going to believe this one. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was IN for Homer Simpson!

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Cleveland Twin-Towers with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

The extra pass! Napoleon had the look, gave it up anyway, and Peter Griffin buries it. BANG! Baseline drive by Peter Griffin, he absorbs the hammer from the help defender, and the official is already pointing to the line. Two for two from the player, calm as a Tuesday afternoon. Whatever that job involves all day, it clearly builds very steady hands.

SKIP PASS! Charlie Kirk fires it cross court to Simo Häyhä and the defense is dead in the water! Two guys on the exact same page, Simo Häyhä and Charlie Kirk, and the defense is left holding a bag of nothing. Catching it right at the cup with nobody within eight feet, Simo Häyhä goes up too strong and the ball rides high off the backboard.

Cold blooded from Cleveland Twin-Towers, way out beyond the arc, and our defense is scrambling in rotation.

Body to body all the way to the rim and the arm goes up. That is on Charlie Kirk, and this crew is not letting anything go tonight. Six fouls and the conspiracy theorist is done. Nobody in that trade ever learned to move their feet, but my word, he tried tonight.

Not pretty, but this is arithmetic now. Simo Häyhä trades one foul for one more possession, and down five with a minute left, that math works.

Napoleon pushes away the reporter's microphone with a gesture. Peter Griffin takes the interview and says 'not tonight'. And here is the answer to our game show Cash Cab of the Parking Lot! Leonard Skidmore of Tumbleweed Alley, Arizona, got it right. The question, I remind you, was 'Why is there always exactly one balloon stuck in the rafters?' The answer was of course that nobody knows, and the janitors have agreed to stop asking. Leonard therefore wins a plug-in air freshener permanently stuck on the high setting! I learned that Napoleon's father was a military leader. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Good night! Up next: 'America's Got Talent: Mouth Noises Edition.' The judges are baffled.

Matchday 13vs Boston Ring-Chasers

77-121 (L)

OHHHH he SNATCHED that tip! Homer Simpson rips it out of the air and we are off.

Simo Häyhä gets it on the reversal and now this defense is rotating, scrambling and losing ground, all because Napoleon saw it a beat early. Enough room out there to set up a lawn chair, and the farmer made it himself. Total professional, in a completely unrelated profession. Isolation on the wing, shot clock draining, and Simo Häyhä rocks the defender to sleep before dropping it through.

The farmer got moved off the block like a folding chair. That is a grown man's job down there.

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, Boston Ring-Chasers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

Simo Häyhä kicks it over to Peter Griffin, no dribble, no drama, and this offense settles into a rhythm. Bodies everywhere in the paint and it does not matter one bit to Peter Griffin, one spin and the ball never leaves the string. The player launched one from the logo as the horn sounded. In fairness, nobody in that huddle gave him a better option.

That's a cut. Peter Griffin stumbles slightly reaching the locker room. Fun fact: Peter Griffin tried to patent a celebration after a three-pointer. The application was rejected. And now, our halftime TV game show The Swap Meet Half Hour! To win a car dealership balloon man with no fan, text HOOPS to 555-1318 and answer this question: 'What is the top speed of a mascot running in oversized shoes?' Back in action! The coach got the message across.

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Boston Ring-Chasers with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

You want basketball IQ? Ask the farmer, who just moved the rock on time without one wasted dribble. Textbook two-man game: Charlie Kirk keeps the dribble alive, forces the big man to commit, and Simo Häyhä rolls into an open runway. A cruel spin-out for the farmer, and whatever that day job is, tonight it came with a brand new way to break your heart.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Boston Ring-Chasers with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

Punish the help, that is the rule, and Napoleon just did it by hitting Homer Simpson on the back side with acres of room. OHHHH the pin-down! Homer Simpson pops out clean while the defender is STILL tangled up with Charlie Kirk. Brutal. Getting to his spot and elevating, Homer Simpson puts it on the back iron, up over the front, and out. Half a rotation from two points.

Turnover, layup, Boston Ring-Chasers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Charlie Kirk flies at a jump shooter thirty feet from the rim and lands on his hip. Three shots coming. FIVE on Charlie Kirk. One more and his night is finished.

Somebody explain how the military leader reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. Napoleon eats the contact so Simo Häyhä can run free along the baseline, and the catch-and-shoot look is right there. AROUND the cylinder and OUT! Simo Häyhä cannot believe it, and neither can this building.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Boston Ring-Chasers in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Two on the board for the visitors, and Homer Simpson knows it before the officials even get their hands up.

The farmer gets it handed over on a silver platter at point blank range and drops it. Somewhere in this building a coach is questioning every decision that led here. The player outworked everybody on the glass! Effort does not care what is printed on your business card. Up over the box out, and Peter Griffin catches it clean and finishes strong through the contact. Somebody just got posterized.

Peter Griffin hangs on the rim one extra beat, letting the whole arena wait on him, then drops down into a dead-eyed mean mug. Charlie Kirk shoves him in the chest just to get a reaction. Nothing. Stone face on a man who just changed the game.

Homer Simpson chews his nails on the bench. Charlie Kirk stares at his shoes like they're the source of the problem. Your commentator broke his personal screaming record tonight. My throat is not thanking me. That's a wrap for tonight. Coming up: 'The Amazing Race: Subway Line 13.' Viewer discretion advised.

Matchday 14vs San Antonio Skyscrapers

81-126 (L)

Turnover, layup, San Antonio Skyscrapers straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

The farmer takes the baseline and bends an entire defense out of shape. Absolutely absurd stuff in this building tonight. The defender fronted him, so Simo Häyhä sealed, waited for the entry and went to work. Patient, mean, effective.

Right hand to the mouthguard, out, pointed at the rafters, back in. Simo Häyhä does not break stride once. Two rows of fans are hugging total strangers. Complete loss of composure in the entire lower bowl, and the game is nowhere near over.

Hustle does not check your job title: the military leader tips it away and the possession is ours. One hand, full court, Peter Griffin hits Charlie Kirk in stride and the crowd is already up. BAAAANG! Simo Häyhä throws the outlet ahead and Charlie Kirk finishes through contact at the rim!

Nothing but a nod. Charlie Kirk jogs back on defense with his eyes half closed, like the shot was a formality he had penciled in. The entire arena is levitating and he could not look less involved. The San Antonio Skyscrapers bench looks personally insulted.

That is vision. Simo Häyhä sees the pocket open for a tenth of a second and puts the ball in it. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That was IN for Charlie Kirk!

Nobody boxed out. Tip in, San Antonio Skyscrapers, and two of ours were standing right there watching it happen.

The players disappear into the tunnel. Peter Griffin asks for an ice pack. Did you know Peter Griffin keeps a photo of his dog in his right shoe? It's a Bichon. And now, our halftime TV game show Wheel of Misfortune! To win a lifetime supply of expired coupons, text HOOPS to 555-0142 and answer this question: 'How many hot dogs fit inside a regulation gym locker if you really commit?' We're off again! The crowd chants the team's name.

Ice in his veins for a guy who answers to military leader the rest of the week. Professional shot, amateur resume. That is what heavy minutes do, Simo Häyhä has run all night and the legs have nothing left to give the jumper.

Watch Simo Häyhä plant his feet, absorb the hit, and spring Charlie Kirk out of that corner in a blink. In, around, and gone. The iron gives Charlie Kirk nothing.

Enough room out there to set up a lawn chair, and the farmer made it himself. Total professional, in a completely unrelated profession. Ohhh no. Simo Häyhä just walked. In front of everybody.

San Antonio Skyscrapers again, and again nobody is home. Three straight trips down the floor with zero resistance.

Read, screen, delivery, right on the money. A military leader making the right pass every single time, and the league is taking notes. Rim out for Charlie Kirk, the crowd came up and sat right back down, and you can hear the groan from every corner of the arena.

More second chance points for San Antonio Skyscrapers, and our bench is up screaming for a timeout. Rightly so.

Nobody is touching the paint with the farmer parked in the middle of it. That is a full time defender doing a part time job, or the other way around. Verticality, timing, discipline: Simo Häyhä never bites on the pump fake and still finds a way to erase the shot.

Bucket for San Antonio Skyscrapers. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Eight seconds off the shot clock and Napoleon has not wasted one of them, the ball reaching Peter Griffin precisely where the play wanted it. The player just ran a give and go to perfection on national television! Somebody go tell his boss what he does after hours! It went halfway down! The ball sat in the cylinder, thought about it, and rolled off the far side on Peter Griffin. Cruel.

Take the foul, live with whatever happens at the line. Simo Häyhä clamps down on the ball handler and the whistle does the rest.

Napoleon avoids the cameras like the plague. Peter Griffin gets caught. Just says 'we'll be better'. And here is the answer to our game Wheel of Misfortune! Darlene Puckett of Lower Buttermilk, Kansas, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How many hot dogs fit inside a regulation gym locker if you really commit?' The answer was of course four hundred and six, and the coach has never spoken of it since. Darlene takes home a lifetime supply of expired coupons! I tried taking notes during the game. My notebook is full of incomprehensible scribbles. Thanks for watching this game. And now: 'Deal or No Deal: Office Fridge Edition.'

Matchday 15vs Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest

83-127 (L)

Count it and the foul. Brutal. Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest with a three point play and a gut punch in the same possession.

Kick out to Simo Häyhä, one more to Peter Griffin, splash from the wing and this bench is on its feet. Peter Griffin rises, the big man rises higher, and the shot is stuffed into the second row. Return to sender.

Over the top of everybody. Charlie Kirk to Homer Simpson in the corner, wide open, catch and rise. Off the pin-down comes the farmer with nobody inside a zip code. Somebody out there knows how to use a screen, and it is not who you would guess. You can teach the jumper, you cannot teach the willingness, and Homer Simpson gives up a decent shot every single time a better one exists. The conspiracy theorist just fired one in from the logo and the roof nearly came off this place. That is in nobody's job description.

Bucket for Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest. Wide open look, and nobody even ran at the shooter.

Careless. Peter Griffin had the entire frontcourt open in front of him and chose to reverse into a violation.

Break! Simo Häyhä takes his jersey off before even reaching the locker room. Did you know? Simo Häyhä launched a basketball podcast. Two episodes. Zero listeners. Still going. And now, our halftime TV game show Church Picnic Wipeout! To win an above-ground pool ladder with no pool attached, text HOOPS to 555-0158 and answer this question: 'How much popcorn is in a large at the concession stand, honestly?' Back in action! The coach got the message across.

And there it is, a walk-in layup for Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest with not one hand raised in the paint. Somebody has to protect that rim.

The ball travels faster than five defenders can, and Simo Häyhä has known that all night long. This is the work that never shows up on a stat sheet, Homer Simpson gets the credit and the guy setting the screen gets the bruise. Nobody moved, nobody cut, nobody set a screen, so Homer Simpson launches a contested jumper with the horn already going. Ugly offense.

Watch the spacing there, Napoleon hits Charlie Kirk right in the shooting pocket and the possession stays alive. OHHHH that is filthy! Charlie Kirk on the handoff and the man guarding it is still fighting over the top. Rising up out of the corner, Homer Simpson sends it LONG, clanging off the far side and out to the wing.

That is the pass nobody puts on a highlight reel, and Simo Häyhä makes it every single trip down the floor. The player pulls out the crossover of his life, and Monday morning he clocks in like nothing ever happened. Off the back iron for Peter Griffin, that one had all the distance and none of the accuracy, and the board goes the other way.

Ohhh no. Corner three, Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest in rhythm now, and our side of the building goes silent.

Long miss from the conspiracy theorist and the rebound goes the other way, but let the record show that most people in that line of work never even get to take that shot. Another extra possession courtesy of the farmer, a man who evidently boxes out at work too. Some habits do not clock out. Simo Häyhä crashes the glass, snatches that miss out of the air and hammers it home. Onions!

Swing, swing, and Charlie Kirk finds Simo Häyhä on the wing before the help can even turn its head. The farmer just ran that two-man game like he has a decade of film on it. Somebody get this man a contract. The military leader had that thing halfway down and the rim spat it back out. Nobody ever warns you that the iron has a personality.

Turnover, layup, Oklahoma City Treasure-Chest straight through us in transition. Careless basketball.

Somebody explain how the military leader reads a defense faster than half this league. Whatever he does all day, it clearly involves thinking three steps ahead. Day job, then this: the farmer reads a rolling big like a coach with twenty years on the bench. That is a forced shot from the player that was doomed the moment it left the hand, and the bench has quietly decided to look at the floor for a moment.

This is the part of the league nobody loves and everybody watches: Homer Simpson waits with both hands on top of his head. Freeze it right there: leather glued to the fingers of Homer Simpson, horn already screaming. No basket.

Charlie Kirk mutters 'damn' under his breath. Homer Simpson says 'yeah' in the same tone. And here is the answer to our game Church Picnic Wipeout! Charlene Pigg of Hatchet Handle, North Carolina, got it right. The question, let me remind you, was 'How much popcorn is in a large at the concession stand, honestly?' The answer was of course a medium and a rumor. Charlene takes home an above-ground pool ladder with no pool attached! My evening? I spent it holding back tears. Of joy? Of exhaustion? Both. We're done here. Up next: 'Top Chef: Microwave Edition.' Bon appetit.

My Team finishes #16 (0W-15L). Better luck next season! MVP: Napoleon.
